Yeah but it's never going to be as useful as catching it and immediately throwing it to Grealish to start a counter. Martinez can punch it if necessary, the PL reckon he's made 2 in his Arsenal career, it's just that he has the rare ability to be able to choose to do a superior alternative in almost any scenario where a punch would be useful.

Our best stretch of results in the PL have happened while other teams fans have been locked out. Our home form has been way worse than our away form without fans. We'd most likely be top if we were allowed a full house and nobody else was allowed any fans, as would any of the rest of the top 8.

That is interesting. Looking through Chelsea's other loan outs, RLC mentions that he's on loan and Ampadu mentions it on his Twitter. On the other end of the spectrum the kid they've loaned to Blues doesn't mention Blues at all. In fact on his insta he was posting pics of himself in his Chelsea kit every week until his move and hasn't posted anything since.

I don't really mind Leeds but a Leeds fan posting on a Villa forum telling Villa fans they shouldn't worry about Leeds and just enjoy their own team's form is laying on the hypocrisy so thick I think I can taste it. Same as for almost every other club, as long as Leeds finish below us I don't give a shit where they end up. The media wankfest has run out of steam a bit now so it's less annoying but there will no doubt be some more tomorrow. To be honest though my opinion may be skewed by the fact I know 10 times as many Olbiyun fans as Leeds fans so I was delighted with this one.

If you actually read my post I said I thought Newcastle were very lucky based on actually watching them last year, not because of xG. It seemed like more people missed chances and hit the woodwork against them in games they won by 1 goal than against anyone else. In fact I didn't even mention xG. But sure, me watching Newcastle and getting the impression that they were lucky at key moments "ought to be enough evidence to suggest that "xG" is bollocks" despite it having absolutely **** all to do with xG. Clinical finishing had nothing to do with it either, they scored 38 goals from 36.5xG. Pretty much spot on.

Watching them last season the overwhelming impression I got was that Newcastle were very lucky to even avoid relegation, let alone finish mid table. Seemed like teams were hitting the woodwork and missing big chances against them most weeks. Their keeper made some unbelievable saves as well. The stats seem to back that up too. They were bottom of the xPTS table with 31.92, even below Norwich. They overperformed their expected total by a larger percentage than any team I can remember. I wouldn't be surprised to see them fall back into the fight this season

All I ask is that the first goal of the game isn't a clear foul on our player that is given as a penalty to them and then **** REVIEWED BY VAR AND **** NOT OVERTURNED. **** me that is annoying just to think about.

Watkins played 4430 out of a possible 4440 league minutes last season. The two times he was subbed were after a hattrick for an ovation and when they won 5-1. The man is a machine. The rest of the attacking unit will probably need some rest and hopefully can all rotate but he's fine for every minute.

After 5 goals in 5 games there's a lot of pent up "disgrace to the shirt" comments waiting to flood out. Hopefully they just post them here so we can laugh rather than sending them to him.
