I don't think he's qualified on the front row all season but 18th is dreadful. I missed the replay of his crash but watching live to me it looked like they were jockeying for track position and the other guy misjudged it and ran into the back of him.

This is a nice sound bite but it's not really true I don't think. Having a player dribbling towards you does not require you to have made a mistake and tackling him in not an admission of one in my eyes. Growing up with GOD playing for my local team will always make me enjoy good defending but tackling is a key part of that, not an emergency measure when 'real defending' fails.

I agree with this but I think that a bad weekend for Bottas would be a disaster for him. It's very unlikely but if he as a similar race to the last one it would build so much pressure, to the point I think Merc would be enquiring about the cost of buying Russell out again. 95% chance he outqualifies Russell though and hopefully that settles his nerves enough to get a good start for once.

I understand what you mean and I do think we could potentially be vulnerable to the counter attack due to our overly attacking line up but this really hasn't been the case in the vast majority of our wins or our losses this season IMO. The only counter attack goals we've conceded have been the Wellbeck goal which was a Mings error in judgement and Liverpool's second. The first two Leeds goals were also quick attacks I suppose. We also haven't struggled to break the more defensive teams down when they sit back, we've had multiple excellent goal scoring chances in every loss this season. When teams are genuinely vulnerable to the counter and exploited by it, it almost always leads to them conceding multiple high quality goal scoring chances in the game. We haven't done that in any match other than the Leeds one. IMHO our goals conceded have been down to unsustainably high quality of finishing from our opponents and individual errors from our defenders rather than any systemic vulnerability to counter attacks in our system. This is absolutely bang on. The amount of spending power and the quality of squads in this league now is lightyears ahead of years gone by.

Nobody is happy with the results in 4 of our past 5 games, but surely everyone is happy with the performances in 4 out 5 of them. We absolutely dominated the majority of the games against SOU, ARS, BHA and WHU. Results are a different thing to performances, they usually roughly even out over a season but in such a small sample as 5 games (and especially individual games) it's not unusual for them to not reflect each other. IMHO the performances against WHU and BHA were far better than the ones against SHU and LEI but the results were obviously far worse. I get that it's disappointing that our results haven't reflected our performances recently but if they had then we'd have 20+ points and be top of the league right now. Is that really the only acceptable level of outcome? We're one of the most exciting teams in the league going forward and we have allowed very few chances against us all season. If you're not optimistic about our potential now you are never going to be.

I'm never overly fond of the pay drivers that just use parents money but he's a horrible little turd by all accounts. Notably punched Ilott (who is currently beating him in F2) in the face for spoiling a lap in free practice. All of the other drivers seem to hate him and there was something about him threatening to "out" Russell. If Haas hadn't signed MSC I'd have happily rooted for them to finish dead last every race next year.

Getting demolished by Alonso, especially in Quali, really killed all of his hype. He would've really had to be a generational talent not to get run over as a rookie by Alonso though. Would be a nice feelgood comeback story if is him they choose he does well/wins.

We've beaten beaten 2 top 5 teams but also Sheff U, Fulham and Arsenal. None of them will be in the top 5. We've won more than we've lost and that looks like continuing based on our underlying stats and performances.

If they've only got 4 positive tests surely they can't have any hope of the PL agreeing to postpone. Even 10 isn't enough. That could obviously change before Friday though.
