  1. Luckily I'm too much of a scaredy cat to ever ditch him while he's fit. Repaid the double blank as my captain in the DGW handsomely now.
  2. This MFer really wasn't joking when he said joining Villa was a step up was he? He truly believes it
  3. Our season has turned out in such a way that I find myself hoping Leeds win most weeks but objectively they are the divingest team in the league by a distance.
  4. They looked absolutely toothless without Kane. Plus Son has been inflating their points total by scoring screamers every other week but that can only go on for so long. Lowest xG of any team this round of fixtures? Spurs. Lowest of any team in the previous round? Also Spurs.
  5. Demarai Gray sold by Leicester. Blues are getting 15% of the profit they make. They bought him for £3.7m and are selling him for £2.7m. Profit is negative one million. Does that mean Blues owe them £150k?
  6. I've got Salah vice captain behind Sterling. Thanks Pep, love you really. If Nathaniel Phillips had have held the clean sheet as well City rotation would've netted me a sweet 21.
  7. It should also be pointed out that we were less lucky than they were in the reverse fixture when every shot went in for them. I don't think anyone can claim with a straight face that chances from corners late on are because of lack of substitutions can they? We conceded more corners in the first half IIRC. Also one of the two iffy VAR decisions was in the first half.
  8. That is possibly the most loaded and specific question I've ever seen. Hilarious. Now for something tangible instead. Average points taken from winning positions this season: Villa 2.73 (2nd) He knows what he's doing, as evidenced by the fact he's converted over 90% of leads into wins. Subs sometimes make things better and sometimes make them worse. This is observed in games very often. The degree of certainty with which people on here have that some differently timed substitutions would've made such a massive positive difference is as puzzling as it is amusing. I may have slightly more of a problem with our substitution timings if: a) we had squandered multiple leads due to fatigue of our starting XI b) our starting XI had suffered multiple injuries due to fatigue c) our bench had similar quality on it to our starting XI d) we had not been winning games late on due to the fatigue of our starting XI None of these things have been the case so I'm happy with the actions of the manager with the second best leads to wins conversion rate in the league. We were a bit lucky yesterday based on the amount and quality of chances we conceded but most of them were early on or from set pieces, not from being too tired to compete in midfield imho.
  9. That pronunciation caused me physical pain. He only just stopped shy of starting to play an accordion.
  10. I generally had the impression that his end product hadn't been up to the levels we would want/expect but looking at it he's got 3G 1A after playing 9 games worth of minutes. That's really not that bad, especially when two of the goals were in 1-0 wins against teams around us.
  11. So who are these better managers in the league who always always 100% of the time make substitutions when games are tight?
  12. Halfway through the season review: 53% win rate (=4th) 1.8 goals/game (=4th) from 1.9 xG/game (3rd) 1.1 conceded/game (=4th) from 1.2 xGA/game (8th) 53% clean sheet rate (2nd) My rating A++
  13. The pain. I thought I'd at least get 20 minutes out of Sterling. Who was your vice?
  14. Completely agree, without the brace though I'd have been more confident that his big hauls weren't on the verge of returning. And the other thing is that I really don't like owning Son, he overperforms his underlying stats to such an extent that it makes me feel like I got what I deserved every time he blanks.
  15. That fear was too much for me and I've ended up having a 12m dead weight being carried by my triple Villa, double West Ham for weeks on end. Still too scared to sell him after his FA Cup brace though.
  16. You have to hit a line of moving Steve Bruces while they bend down to pull their boots on, dust themselves down and roll their sleeves up. If you knock one over you get a Dean Smith plushie
  17. Are you mad? Clearly he should be making more/less substitutions and doing so far earlier/later. He should also be bringing on the younger/older players instead of what he has been doing in order to give us more energy/guile. Also tactically we're too offensive/defensive and this has resulted in too many high/low scoring games. I can only conclude, from sitting on my sofa and randomly picking opinions out of my arse, that he's taken us as far as he can/lost the dressing room and he needs to walk/get the sack immediately.
  18. Josh now works as head scout for Sheffield United
  19. The very fact you dislike the entire sport and yet still care to some extent about the result of his fight says more about him and how successful his schtick has been. The more people who care about the outcome, the more PPVs they'll sell, the more articles will be written, the more valuable the advertising spaces will become, the more money he'll probably make and he's got people who don't even like the sport invested. Fight promotion masterclass.
  20. And then they sign one of the Longstaff brothers for £25m instead
  21. Rollercoaster of a DGW. Salah captain, KDB and Fernandes not pulling their weight and yet still squeaked 100 points thanks to Targett and Antonio. I finished higher OR last season than I currently am this but it's so so much sweeter being able to get points with triple Villa.
  22. That depends what you mean by 'what he does'. It could be argued that what he does includes creating an entertaining character outside of the ring and maintaining an exciting, marketable and largely effective style in it. In that case he's the best the sport has even seen at what he does. Even in terms of his MMA achievements he's a hall of famer without any of that being considered. I would say he's a bit like David Beckham in that he's transcended the sport to an extent that has overshadowed the fact that he is actually very talented and has had a great career in terms of sporting achievements. He's obviously not in the GOAT discussion, not even for just LW or FW, but being the first UFC simultaneous two weight champion alone puts him among the sport's legends.
  23. That looked a lot like it was the end of McGregor at the sharp end of MMA. I'd expect either another venture into boxing or a 'legends' matchup against someone he's likely to beat.
