  1. To be fair, there is an argument for Foden being the best attacker in the league now.
  2. Maybe after so many years when it felt like they will definitely go down, this is the year?!
  3. Nope. We will play full strength on Thursday. Maybe Rogers to start, other than than a full strength team.
  4. Truth is like poetry. And no one like poetry.
  5. I should add; they also have new restaurants being built there (we could easily do that outside Holte) and have a small pop up shop with merch. You take a kid to see Villa, they will likely want a hat/shirt/poster. We should have members of staff visiting various stadiums on weekly basis and taking ideas from others. Why can't we have a small stand with shirts inside the Holte End? Unless you get that in Terrace View?
  6. I went to the new Riverside stand at Fulham when we played them and beer/food was available even an hour after the game. If Holte End bars were open after the game with some good TVs and other facilities I would happily spend an hour after the game and have and extra 2 or 3 drinks and maybe some food.

    Eurovision 2024

I am not much into pop/electro/eurodance music, I appreciate some good tunes. I actually like this song. But it makes me wonder; you have some rock/metal/blues/jazz groups meeting together, jamming, playing local gigs, real musicians and artists who come up in the scene. The classic rags to riches stories of bands becoming great overtime. How does a band like Windows95man make a name for themselves?! And what is the artistic thought process behind the music? Did a 16 year old Windows95man meet the other dude and thought 'I know what music we should play, let's try it in the local pub'?
  8. Maybe a regular fan couldn't, but I am sure there are 5-10k people within a 50 mile radius happy to pay £100+ per game, and that is not including football tourists from abroad/businesses. Especially if we can compete with Arsenals and Chelseas, and even more so if we can offer games on Tuesday nights.
  9. In fact, it looks like it was a great decision.
  10. Someone calculated that a new stand would possibly bring a return of investment in 10-15 years. I guess it would also increase the value of the club dramatically so maybe the return would be closer to 5-8 years. I just can't see a reason why they wouldn't do it. If I had a chance, I would buy a season ticket right away.
  11. And as businessmen, they should be doing so. But why can't the new stand be built alongside of this attempt?
  12. It's not a great system though - clubs will be able to be spend money as they wish knowing exactly what the punishments are. Wolves could buy 2 super players that will help them massively next year if they know this year they will only lose 6-9 points, which makes very little difference to them now. I'm not sure what the solution is, but I think a scale as such is not good. It's like theft; when you go to court after stealing something, all things such as intent, motivation, circumstances, scale, etc are considered.
  13. I wonder, how much do performance enhancing drugs help in football? Unlike athletics, swimming or cycling, football is a bit more dimentional; it's not about an effort to push in the last 20mins of a multi-hour race or a singular power effort, it's about deciding where to pass and turning to make a run to intercept a ball that you estimate will land in a specific place. Slower players can be better than faster ones. Less athletic can out-wit the bigger players. Does doping have an affect on football performance? Maybe in terms of stamina and longevity?
  14. Please just give us a thumbs up or down. Will there be any news soon from the club?
  15. But it will happen. Probably not now, maybe in 30-50 years, but it will most likely eventually happen.
  16. Hasn't Emery had the best record at PSG? And hasn't he done well at Arsenal but their expectations of instant success and post Wenger blues make him lose the job?
  17. It's great that we did and I fully support it. I just hope it never bites us if a Real Madrid was to take him and half of Villa employees along with him!
  18. Probably at the same time when a 'chocolate cake' becomes a 'double chocolate cake'. It's either a chocolate cake or it isn't, unless there are 2 different types of chocolate. When I make chicken soup it's not a 'double chicken soup' just because I used chicken stock and have chicken pieces floating in it. But that's for the 'things that piss you off' topic.
  19. Ask any footballer if he wants to either; 1. Win every trophy club football has to offer, be one of the best paid players in the world, be an international star in the best football team in the world 2. Play to their strength. He does play consistently when fit so that is a bit of a moot point. What are we even discussing? He made the right decision. And let's say he didn't, just to entertain the argument. When Man City called him 3 years ago, to offer him all the glory in the world, do you think anyone would have said ''crap, I might not move to Real Madrid in 2026, I might end up at Chelsea or Spurs or maybe even Inter Miami so I better stay at struggling Villa. I might even have to run down my £300k a week contract...'' ?
  20. Poor Jack, what is he gonna do now?! Seriously, let's not joke around. He could have been at Villa (fighting for a possible CL spot) or maybe not because we would have not had Emery the way things could have played out. We most likely would not have Bailey. He made the best decision he could have - joined the best team in the world, with arguably the best manager and players, won the biggest trophy in football along with league/cup titles, made unbelievable money, he is in the England team regularly. He is 28 now, so probably has another 4-5 years left at top level. I think he made a very good decision for himself, his family, his trophy cabinet, his bank account. In fact, he made the only right decision that EVERYOBODY (other than some Villa fans) would have made. If football is about winning, he completed the game. What else was he supposed to do, move to Man United? Maybe Chelsea?
  21. Meanwhile, Chambers on standby:
  22. I believe the Premier League should protect the vice captain (Obviously Henderson is the 1st choice of captain) before the important Euros in the summer! In Gareth we trust - these players should be protected.

    Liverpool

I did state that they had kids as subs, but to build a monument of 'kids won the cup' is veeery far fetched, especially considering Chelsea had the younger team.

    Liverpool

They did have various kids playing as subs (especially in extra time), but can we please not build a myth of the cup being won by their u12 team? Their starting line up was this: Kelleher Bradley (kid, but with PL/Europa experience, a little like Tim I guess) Konate/Van Dijk/Robertson/ MacAllister/Endo/Gravenberch Elliot/Gakpo/Diaz I refuse to buy into the 'kids won the title' BBC headlines. On paper, that has go to be one of the most valuable teams in the league.
