  1. It's not Nice, the operation was in Lyon.
  2. I just googled it's the Greek hero Ajax. I never knew that before. But it's got meaning to the fans, just like the gas lamp (no one outside of B6 knows about the gas lamp.)
  3. I guess everything is meaningless to a non fan of the team. Why green on Plzen? Who's the Ajax dude? Is that even an eagle on PAOK? Anything you put on a badge that resembles history is only meaningful to the fans of that club. Hence, I wouldn't be against the principle of a very modernised insignia like Juventus have, with the lion of some sort being branded throughout the club.
  4. Sure it's a drop, but it's not a nose dive. Look at how many players drop leagues. He was also the England international. It's a drop, but it's not a nose dive. When he sits down at the age of 80 I am sure he will consider his career a massive success.
  5. The thing I enjoy about British politics (as compared to other nations) is that there seems to be an element, most likely theatrical of course, of honour. Very few other politicians in other countries would face calls being sacked from their job in a similar circumstance, or call quits because they shouted some stuff while drunk in a bar. Of course you also have things like COVID parties on the other end of the spectrum. But, generally, you take a wrong step, and there is a good chance you might lose your job. And that's something that's rare in international politics. Some countries leaders run while "grabbing them by their pus**". In England I feel some of this stuff does not fly. But like I said, it might be mainly theatrical. It's an echo chamber of mates who went to ancient schools.
  6. If Watkins keeps this up for another season or 2 he will become our best PL era striker. It's funny how in a short space of time from Lescott, Gestede, Kalinic and co we now built a team with potential club legends all over the pitch.
  7. I'm not sure it's nose dived at all. He kept up a high level. Look at Navas as a comparison. Madrid, PSG, Forest. I wouldn't say that's a nose dive either, but there are only so many players that can stay in "elite" brackets for their entire career, and it's arguable City weren't "elite" when he played there. He had a very good career, one that very few footballers have.
  8. And that's the thing with football clubs at elite level. Why should Man U aim to win CL every year while spending crazy money on players if they can finish 3rd most years and go fairly deep into CL while operating at the current standard? There is not much extra financial reward for them to do a little better (i.e. be at the top) if they are already a cash cow. And even if they do spunk an extra £1bn on players/training ground/infrastructure, they have no guarantees they will see a return on that investment. I think glazers and Ratcliffe are perfectly happy with where Man U is as a business. Why wouldn't they be?
  9. Ha! I can see that happening. It never happened to me in Lichfield/Burton though, I would hate another 'booking/appointment' situation. But then again, I have never attempted to try on a Saturday afternoon.
  10. What's wrong with a free for all? You just drive up, get rid of an old mattress/broken chair and you leave.
  11. He's just bought 25% for around £1.3bn, in 5 years he will likely more than double that investment. It's as simple as that.
  12. Absolutely, we are talking about billionaire businessmen here. They go where the value is.
  13. Think positive. After Man Utd get their brand new Wembley of the North, we will get a government funded Wembley of the Midlands. After which, Norwich get a Wembley of East Anglia, and Plymouth get a Wembley of the south west. You know, to level up. Everyone gets a Wembley!
  14. I'm sorry to break it to you, but Man City have dominated the league until the end of time already. And then you have 3-4 other clubs that will always be just behind City.
  15. Maybe Mbappe has a one legged cousin we could loan with the option to buy?
  16. I know, I recently took at 750k a week job because money wasn't the main factor
  17. Well, it depends where it would happen exactly. It's not that dumb to suggest something between Tamworth and Birmingham, there is the motorway. Maybe a few new roads would be built by the city to accommodate it, maybe a tram line to stations at Tamworth/Coleshill. But that's not happening. It would cost too much, it would be a crazy project.
  18. The question is, even if you can house them in a masion, do they want to move? If the club can offer them a sum above the market rate and they are willing to do so, great. If they are offered £1m and they turn it down, you cannot do anything (unlike the forever victimised Liverpool did).
  19. Birmingham has plenty of land available for re-development. It's not central London - take a 10-20 min walk out of the centre and you will find yourself among old warehouses and properties ready to get knocked down. Heck, look at what Digbeth is to a large extent. I think that not only is it unnecessary to build a new stadium, but there is no will for the owners to spunk a £1bn to do so. All that is needed is to build the NS (I am secretly hoping a new plan is made for an even more grand design) and think of ways to develop the Witton stand. And then you have Holte (leave as is but improve inside), Trinity (new stand that can be modernised, there is plenty of concourse space to do so) and 2 brand new stands. That would take VP to 60k, and no more is needed at this point (or most likely for another 30 years).
  20. As a goalkeeper I will say the goal is 100% on Emi, he misjudged the cross. It happens. Let's move on.
  21. That's true, but without Konsa & Kamara we have 3/3 possible points (Fulham win). Stats can be skewed many ways, and while both important players, it's a team game and I would suggest we will likely continue the same form we had over the season than drop off the pace.
  22. Or you build on what you can get. Luiz is worth £80m+. Ramsey is worth £50m. If we can get a ''Pau Torres'' of a midfielder in place of one of those, and it makes financial sense to do so, it's worth it. Players are assets to clubs. Their value is represented on the pitch, or in the check book of another club. I'd rather we keep top players. But it's feasible to sell and go forward.
  23. Out of interest, why a BMW?
  24. To be fair it got hyped up a bit. The club posted a picture of him and a tweet from Romano said something along the lines of 'hoping to be back asap'. He will likely make a bench appearance towards back end of the season.
