  1. I imagine the comedown from Roma's starboy to being shunted out to Turkey as the only interested team can affect motivation. Moving to the Premier League may give him more of a reason to get back to his best.
  2. There's a potential that Emery has seen a lot in Kellyman and wants to back that horse instead of Cam. He might feel that bringing in a more experience/proven striker for Cam and then using Kellyman as an understudy is a better squad balance.
  3. I agree with everything that you say. That wasn't quite the line I was going down. We wouldn't make a sale and then just move on and accept it. The fact we have Tielemans means we won't be completely shafted if we did make a sale, and buys us time to then bring in another high quality player that doesn't have to be relied on instantly. I mean, ideally, we wouldn't sell anyone and would keep building so that we have the same depth across the whole squad.
  4. We also are building a squad that can cope with a player or two leaving and still have a quality player to take up the slack before getting a replacement in. Not like the Grealish/Benteke incidents. Dougie leaves, Tielemans is there. Ming's leaves, Torres and Carlos are there. The only position we don't look well catered for is at striker. (Keeper would be more easily dealt with when looking for an outright number 1 imo) Obviously I would rather keep them all and add to what we already have...but I think we're in abetter position to manage a sale than we have been in before.
  5. This waistcoat has a badge on if that's what you like.
  6. Also this t shirt called 'Rainman' is cool
  7. So, there's a kit thread each year, but I thought a thread for Villa merchandise, both past and present, official and unofficial, would make for a good read. I'll start with this deliciously shit homage to our GK kit that I've just picked up...
  8. DJ Ed Spence...now available for school discos.
  9. I think we're forgetting that our way of playing and the squad we're putting together means we can change a number of players without seriously weakening the team or belittling opponents. For example, if we rest our 'first choice CBs' we'd still have Carlos and Pau as reserves. Our second string CMs are Belgium's starting midfield. With GK rotation, there's five changes that could easily happen. The team and way of playing would still be strong though.
  10. Every time I see this, I can't help but read it in Team America's Kim Jong Il's voice...
  11. Feels like the waiting game is being carried out now. We work on getting rid of players and be primed, ready to pounce when a good looking deal comes up at the end of the window. I'd say that will see us get in a striker and midfielder, with possibly a young full back as well.
  12. He's been really competent on the ball whenever I've seen him. I think he'd fit in well with what Emery wants...as long as he can keep progressing this season with a large number of games/minutes.

    Matty Cash

He's becoming much more confident at passing around corners using both feet now. Previously he would be stuck to a long ball down the line into the channel or a chop back. The work Emery is doing with each player has moved each one up a level or two
  14. He is very, very good with the ball. His first touch and weight of pass is excellent. Fits perfectly into what we are trying to do under Emery. I don't think he'll be selected ahead of Bailey just yet, but by the end of the season I think he will be.
  15. Easily our best player. Plays the game like he's Max Payne and everyone else is in slow-motion.
  16. Unfortunately for the lad, I think this is where we're at with him. It feels like it's now a dead-heat between him and Philogene-Bidace for who should be selected...and I actually think Jayden looks far more composed and happy with the ball than Leon. It's a shame, I won't stop backing Bailey when he's wearing our shirt, but he's struggling and we now have players who can take his place.
  17. Shame, thought he was getting out the rustiness over the matches in the USA. Played some lovely passes into midfield against Brentford. Hopefully it's not a long lay off.
  18. I think to was a useful exercise to have him at LB during pre-season to give him game time and to see if he offers enough there so that every now and again we can flip out attack so Cash is the high full back instead of Moreno.
  19. He's a great player to be able to bring on in the latter stages of a match the keep hold of the ball. Links really nicely with Dougie, Youri, and Philogene-Bidace.
  20. Looks like he's left back today
  21. Their claret was off, but Under Armour were the best quality that we've had. I imagine that would've gone on a bit longer if we handed have been relegated during the deal. Castore seem to be trying to be an Under Armour copycat...but failing hard.

    Penalties…

    Tielemans or Luiz. Not Watkins.
