  1. Feels like the waiting game is being carried out now. We work on getting rid of players and be primed, ready to pounce when a good looking deal comes up at the end of the window. I'd say that will see us get in a striker and midfielder, with possibly a young full back as well.
  2. He's been really competent on the ball whenever I've seen him. I think he'd fit in well with what Emery wants...as long as he can keep progressing this season with a large number of games/minutes.

    Matty Cash

He's becoming much more confident at passing around corners using both feet now. Previously he would be stuck to a long ball down the line into the channel or a chop back. The work Emery is doing with each player has moved each one up a level or two
  4. He is very, very good with the ball. His first touch and weight of pass is excellent. Fits perfectly into what we are trying to do under Emery. I don't think he'll be selected ahead of Bailey just yet, but by the end of the season I think he will be.
  5. Easily our best player. Plays the game like he's Max Payne and everyone else is in slow-motion.
  6. Unfortunately for the lad, I think this is where we're at with him. It feels like it's now a dead-heat between him and Philogene-Bidace for who should be selected...and I actually think Jayden looks far more composed and happy with the ball than Leon. It's a shame, I won't stop backing Bailey when he's wearing our shirt, but he's struggling and we now have players who can take his place.
  7. Shame, thought he was getting out the rustiness over the matches in the USA. Played some lovely passes into midfield against Brentford. Hopefully it's not a long lay off.
  8. I think to was a useful exercise to have him at LB during pre-season to give him game time and to see if he offers enough there so that every now and again we can flip out attack so Cash is the high full back instead of Moreno.
  9. He's a great player to be able to bring on in the latter stages of a match the keep hold of the ball. Links really nicely with Dougie, Youri, and Philogene-Bidace.
  10. Looks like he's left back today
  11. Their claret was off, but Under Armour were the best quality that we've had. I imagine that would've gone on a bit longer if we handed have been relegated during the deal. Castore seem to be trying to be an Under Armour copycat...but failing hard.

    Penalties…

    Tielemans or Luiz. Not Watkins.
  13. We have Buendia and Bailey trying to play quick passes that are often inaccurate or mishit - this is a fairly common occurrence. Watkins can take to many touches on the ball that lets the space close down quickly. When I mentioned Felix and Torres, all I was referring to was a player who was 'more natural when taking the ball under control and finding a teammate with a well-weighted pass'. It seems there is a recognition from Emery that we need this element when going forward, and I think the current combination of players on the pitch show that. It sounds like I'm bashing our lads - I'm not - I'm actually a fan of them all...but we do need a different skill set to add in up there imo. That's how I see it.
  14. The blue line on the back of the shirt and the blue stripe on the shorts is
  15. Digne getting higher up the pitch the Chambers on the other side. Chambers playing some lovely passes through the lines to the midfield and forwards from a deeper starting point...and then working forward more slowly to support the more gradual build up of pressure as opposed to Digne who goes forward with more of a burst.
  16. Playing really well. Looking solid and playing through a decent team nicely. Only observation is that the combination of Watkins, Bailey, Buendia, and Diaby creates a lot of turnover up front. You can see how a player like Torres, Felix, or even Ramsey in that attacking set would progress the ball with a bit more reliability.
  17. If that was just a navy shirt with the thin pinstripes it would be quite smart. Less is more. I know there is licence with a third kit...but I don't think this is out-there enough to be so-shit-it's-actually-good.
  18. Yeah, I agree with this. Buendia being the other main other one. Just needs a run of five or so games where he contributes well, similar to the end of last season.
  19. I thought he may have been up against Ollie for the striker position, but I actually think he's more of the second striker (unfortunately for Cam as he's up against a ruck of players there) He can't do what Ollie does in leading the line, but he can finish very, very well. Makes me think he be lethal feeding off Ollie and working with him at the top end of the pitch rather than replacing him.
  20. No one should be calling for his head after a 30 minute pre-season outing. However... He should technically be the most up-to-speed out of everyone due to playing internationals...I don't think that came across. He trips himself and whiffs at the ball more than any player I've seen. It kind of sticks out like a sore thumb when you try and remember his overall contributions. The two through balls that hit him on the back both times fit with that too. They were infuriating as he would have been in on goal.
  21. No doubt. He still has all his quality, but I considered him utterly press-resistant last year (bar Leicester at home) Maybe it's down to pre-season rustiness, which shows the benefit of playing Prem teams in a stronger competition. ...or it could be that everyone's level has increased so he doesn't stand out as a such a different class of player as he used to.
  22. Strange pre-season for him. He absolutely purred for us last year but didn't quite seem the same. Luiz has put himself as number one on the midfield list, I wouldn't be shocked if Tielemans was number two at this point. In all fairness though, I don't think it really matters who starts, whoever comes on will be one quality player for the other.
