  1. Carlos' quads of granite probably doubled the speed of Lo Celso's shot...any other player and wouldn't be a problem.
  2. BBC match thread headline. Spurs 1-2 Aston Villa : Son has third goal disallowed. Bunch of nobs. They weren't disallowed. Offside means it shouldn't have even got as far as the net anyway. This is why we think there's a bias.
  3. Without confirming, that feels like a list of England U21's that he's given a treat to as reward for going through the levels. He was calling trash like that up instead of Grealish and Mings.
  4. Absolute shit. Had one purple patch in his career in their first year back up in the Prem. Garbage at every other point in his career.

    Ezri Konsa

What's that coming over the hill? It's Ezri Konsa, it's Ezri Konsa...
  6. West Ham are traditionally a bad match up for us....however, I don't think they will press us high up which is where we've looked weaker than season. We may be able to get a lot of control because of that. But their strengths of playing on the counter and being good at set pieces goes straight up against our weaker elements. I can see them scoring a couple, hopefully we just outscore them.
  7. Oh come on, clearly Castore know what they're talking about. The problem was hardly visible in the European games
  8. I haven't. It was straight after the match on Ch 4. Mainly it was the quote "I knew I wasn't walking off the pitch without a goal tonight" There were a couple of other phrases in a similar tone but I couldn't accurately recall them. Just stuck out as a bit different to his usual "keep my head down, work hard" type answers.
  9. Odd interview. Seemed to have a different outward persona. Almost as if he's been told he's not confident enough so has tried to act uber-confident in the interview.
  10. Seems like the perfect storm of Southgate controlling his individuality to bribe him into getting his first few England appearances...and then Pep finally bullying it out of him completely at Man City. Shame.
  11. Was at the match last night. The England forwards and midfield are all frighteningly good at going past players with the ball. Madueke, Philogene, Elliot ran them ragged in particular. I was very impressed with Philogene. He has much better decision making at pace than Madueke appeared to have, but was a bit less explosive. If he could get a little more bulky he would be very, very difficult to stop.
  12. His technique is incredible. He's nearly scored 3 or 4 wonder goals that he had almost no right in even getting a shot away. (Long strike v Burnley, Chelsea swivel-volley, Legia long shot, Zrinjski bicycle kick) He has a lot of quality and I don't think it will take long for Unai to harness that and build into the team. IMO he just needs that first goal. I think he would calm down a bit after that and play a bit more naturally.
  13. Just as the wolves fans were finishing a rousing rendition of SOTV they have to stop before saying Villa as the ball rolls home from Pau. Lovely.
  14. Clean sheet is important. Especially not conceding whilst we're still settling in the first ten/twenty minutes of the game. Bad habits forming there, away from home. I actually think 0-0 would be a reasonable result. Wolves seem a bad match up to our high line and I imagine Nero will cause some problems. Hoping for a 2-1 or a gritty 1-0. That would show some character that Villa haven't had for a long time against Wolves.
  15. When the ball goes towards Bailey, I always wonder if he'll control it well enough to sustain the attack. Then I'm unsure whether he'll find a Villa player. He doesn't breed confidence. I trust Bertie in both of those situations almost completely, no matter what pressure he is under. Taking the ball is so natural to him. Add into that his penchant for scoring screamers and crafting openings and it explains why he's so useful to have around
  16. Because we've been through a consultation process fairly recently, can they use that data without having to run a second consultation to re-do the design? I'm assuming they may want to if they can't twist the result to what they want, but if it results say 'must have Aston Villa' and 'must contain a lion' and not much else...I guess they could just run with it.
  17. On reflection, I am very surprised that the round design got the nod when it is so similar to Chelsea's. We just can't have a logo that is so similar to another if we're trying to be recognisable and individual.
  18. Not sure if Chelsea have the ability to press like Newcastle and Liverpool did, so we may not suffer in that respect. However, despite Chelsea being shit, they do have players that can take a chance if we offer them up as easily as we have been. I always go into a match against Chelsea with a feeling we can get something and normally I'd be feeling a 2-1 win for us is on the cards. Can't lose the nagging feeling that we'll ship two/three easy goals and leave ourselves stranded before we get a goal towards the end.
  19. Lineker had a good one about being able to take a free kick immediately, including being able to pass it to yourself. An interesting idea as it would potentially put a stop to the shithousing tactics such as pull backs. I'd also look at penalties for handball. Potentially only giving a penalty if the hand stops a shot towards goal. Other handballs, such as blocking a cross etc seem to have such a high reward even though they're at the edge of the box in an unthreatening position. I'd tie into this that the ball is dead once the outcome of the kick has been decided. No rebounds.
  20. It's probably why they're looking at more. They want a tiered system of hospitality so that nearly every supporter in the ground is opting for one thing or another in addition to their tickets. The Terrace View costs a lot and you have to opt in for a whole season. The new Holte Suite will be something people can go for once as a birthday present or Christmas treat for £70...then there's the Gas Lamp/Heineken for £150...then the 1874 etc. I think Villa have been a bit off the pace in terms of other teams when structuring ST benefits to get more money from fans. Not long ago we had two free cup games and the Holte Suite benefits for one of the cheapest prices...it feels like the brains at the top have tried to catch up with other teams in a short space of time...and it feels unfair.
