  1. It's become so predictable now. Re: the haircut... just before the Ings bicycle kick against Newcastle, I think the wet weather exposed why he has to have it long brushed backwards. #TransplantIncoming It was hilarious hearing the whole crowd take a sharp intake of breath at the same time when it flashed up on screen
  2. He strikes the ball very well and, most importantly, hit the target with both of them.
  3. It's where I hope Tielemans and Zaniolo show us what they can do in that respect.
  4. We need a RB who can work with intricate one-twos and play a ball through the lines. Cash is doing his best Neil Taylor impression of cutting back every single time he gets the ball. He did hit a couple of glorious crossfields to Moreno though that were In terms of beating the low block, again, we created enough chances to get a couple of goals: Moreno penalty Diaby's miskick from in front of goal Konsa's header onto the post Moreno's volley McGinn and Zaniolo long range efforts. It seems we're not converting well enough at the minute. Against teams with a low block, it's easy to say we need a number 10 to 'pick the lock', but in reality you'll never have a tonne of chances against two defensive banks...you just have to take them when they occur.
  5. He's modelling for the new badge. Keeps turning the wrong way though.
  6. Forest will be in for a punishment for breaking loan rules then, right?
  7. I give you 22 year old LB Gaston Avila of Ajax....
  8. I think the yard that you speak of will be the reaction time that comes with match sharpness. The fudged clearance at Brentford is a classic example.
  9. Saw this knock up on social media earlier. Sounds like we can discount any round options so I would be pretty happy with this as a shield alternative.
  10. Surely a double-handed push in the back has got to be a foul? A situation where there is a bit of jostling, such as a shoulder-to-shoulder, I'm fully with you on. I think both players have the chance to be able to 'hold their ground'....but you can't have someone standing behind someone else and shoving them two handed in the back.
  11. We've been spammed with long balls over the top by every team we've played. It doesn't work because we are so good at the high line. Sometimes it feels like it's working against us for it to only be called offside. United didn't get any goals from it either. I'm unsure if any teams really have except a couple in the European games. United's goals came from us giving them the ball each time and being caught out of shape. THAT is the thing we really need to work on. Emery will know that...and he will be holding the players accountable for it.

The cross field pass that smashed Luiz in the chest was certainly something
  13. Pau, Tielemans, and Kamara all missing took a huge chunk out of our passing ability through midfield. There's probably only Konsa and Luiz who started who are as reliable as those three. As @DJBOB said, United prospered because of us giving them the ball back so regularly and then having no impact with the challenges/press. United actually played some really good football at times to their credit, but it was often after we had given them the ball back cheaply. We were never going to stop their momentum by doing that.
  14. Really wish he had got a shot in when he turned the defender on the edge of the box and had acres of space on his left foot. Very strange decision to cut inside into players and on his right.
  15. Did a respectable job with the ball when he came on last night. Some nice passes through the lines and a nice turn at one point. Clear to see he wasn't as forthcoming in offering for a pass off the defence like Kamara and Luiz though. It was the same with Dendonker. They didn't 'hide' from the ball, just didn't take up natural positions to collect of the defence.
  16. Had a perfectly reasonable game bar the pass which would usually be easier as Kamara is brilliant at picking the ball up off the defence. His free header is more annoying as it really was a great chance and would've sucked the life about of United's comeback.
  17. Too many problems keeping the ball in the second half. Two/three passes and it was given back to United. We never checked their momentum. Carlos gave the ball to Fernandes who helped set up the first. The second was a free shot that was a bit unlucky to deflect past Martinez. Probably wouldn't have deflected if someone was tighter. Lenglet gave a needless corner away to set up the third. Then it has a lucky bounce off McGinn's knee to fall perfectly for Hojland. United were literally at the bottom of the well at the end of the first half and just came out with nothing to lose. We let them get a goal in the first few seconds and it teed them up for the half. At no point could we kill the momentum. after each goal we had glorious chances to score when Onana save and Evans cleared off the line. I think they'd have cracked if they'd have conceded either of those...but they were the only shots we had all half.
  18. I reckon, as a marketer, Heck saw us release a new badge a year before one of the most significant anniversaries and saw it as a missed opportunity to be a coordinated celebration/marketing move. Then would've seen that it's similar to a rival and the brand recognition element kicked in. I do like a shield, and would be interested to see if it's a change of shape using 1957 as an influence. If it isn't, I still think our old shield contrasts well when compared against the silhouettes of others.
  19. I always knew Villa talk was full of shady characters.
  20. What is a Custard Bowl Nobber? Is it because they are they play in the same colour as custard and are also nobbers.... Or is it because they in fact nob custard bowls? Or is there another reason? I've never really been 100% since first hearing it.
  21. Even if the push on Watkins is not a foul and consistent with the Joelinton goal...the defender than has a handful of shirt that he yanks as well. To me, the Watkins push, handball, and Ramsey shirt pulling can't be waived as 'objective decisions' because they're so **** obvious. They are literally textbook infringements that will be shown as examples of what these fouls should look like.
  22. Looking at the positives of last night's draw, at least it wasn't a 'Big 6' team to stop our winning run and crow about us only playing poor teams or some shit. I actually thing it may have started to become a bit of a monkey on our back, adding unnecessary pressure to continue to win, especially against teams we would be expected to see off (probably what happened last night). If all's well, hopefully this will just mean we're more determined to start another winning run.
  23. Just got caught by the run across him before the goal, recognised too late and tried to make up for it with the mistimed slide. Probably just a case of being rusty with the position since moving wider this year. On a side note, his touch is absolutely immaculate now. Some of the control in tight spaces from long/fast-paced passes was sublime.

    Matty Cash

Cash was an absolutely perfect signing for us when we got him from Forest. He's been a great fit for where we've been as a team since he joined. Now we're moving forward it'll be a case of making another signing like that but with a new criteria. Some have been mentioning that he would benefit from competition. I don't think that's the case. I think it would make him perform worse through lack of time and added pressure on himself. Emery has given everyone chance to prove themselves and (imo) looks like he sees Cash as the next change after playing Young last year and Konsa this. He's been a good addition to the Villa family but I think we'll upgrade shortly.
