    You really don't have to look far to find a significant number of people claiming that biological sex itself is a social construct (a quick Google brings up several articles in fairly renowned publications). It's utter nonsense and massively undermines the campaign for trans rights.

    I've never seen much from him beyond being neat and tidy either (granted his opportunities have been limited). Reminds me a bit of JJ last year, when the consensus seemed to be that he was competent enough but not really affecting games. Decent enough player, but I'm not really sure where he fits in our midfield or if he really offers something that we need. Just has the feel of a transfer that won't work out for either party at this stage, but would love to be proved wrong

    JJ has needed a rest for weeks, whether Chuk is the right player to come in to the squad isn't clear, but tbh he might as well try things out at this stage. We aren't going down and we aren't getting Europe, good chance to see what some of our younger/squad players are about

    Both of these points can simultaneously be true: 1) He is a very talented player, as demonstrated by the fact he regularly starts at LB for France 2) Currently, he hasn't really offered anything much in a Villa shirt that couldnt have been provided by Targett You can then add the third point, which is that given his injury record, it was a bit silly to allow Targett to leave to Newcastle, who now have every chance of finishing above us in the table

    I think he deserves time and that there have been some positive signs at points during his tenure, but I really can't shake the feeling that giving him a load of money to oversee a massive squad overhaul and completely change the way we play could well be a decision we regret for a long time to come. We have a squad full of talented players, what we need now is to add quality not quantity each year. If he can't get this team playing to something like their potential then he isn't the man for the job long term.

    Did another 5k this morning and managed to do it in 25.15, so a minute faster than last week's effort. Definitely got the buzz back and planning on taking @andyjsg advice and doing Cannon Hill Park run next Saturday

    Massively! I was off the drink for 3 months towards the end of last year, running regularly and playing football twice a week. Physical and mental health was much better than at probably any other point in my adult life. I was considering signing up for the Sutton Fun Run but think I might have left it a bit late for this year, I might sign up for a 10k over the next few months though. I generally always run the same route, so would definitely be good to challenge myself somewhere else

    First run since early November this morning, managed 5k in just over 26 mins, a few minutes slower than I was managing a few months ago, although I took it fairly easy. Towards the end of last year I was in pretty good shape, managed a 10k in around 47 mins which is the best I've ever done. Hopefully won't take long getting back to that. Definitely got the motivation back after this morning - funny how the build up to the first run is horrible but once you've got it out the way you get the buzz back.

    Probably one for the unpopular opinions thread but I generally feel that every film I watch has been overrated. I very rarely enjoy watching films and they hardly ever hold my attention for their entire duration. Especially in the case of films which last longer than two hours, just no need whatsoever.

    Thanks for this mate - will take a listen later on. You'd think that housing policy is one area that you could conceivably build a consensus across the political spectrum on. From a left wing perspective, housing inequality is a major barrier to social justice; but then it's hard to advocate for conservative values if families can't access suitable and affordable housing. All sounds so simple when you put it like that!

    There's a few examples of this type of thing around town now. As the city centre has been revitalised its also started to extend outwards into the inner city suburbs. Parts of Highgate, Ladywood and Hockley are really changing and becoming 'trendy' places to live. Will be very interesting to see how things develop in Brum over the next few decades, but it's not hard to imagine a situation in which some of the inner city areas completely change in character akin to what's happened in London. Somewhere like Handsworth with those Victorian houses and easy access to town is ripe for gentrification.

    Really we need a boom in housebuilding similar to the one in the decades immediately after WW2. Fact of the matter is that won't happen any time soon as house prices would drop and no government can afford to rile the property owning classes. Its painfully apparent that the private sector cannot/will not provide the volume and type of housing that we really need. Always find this graph depicting house completion rates to be illuminating. Can't help but feel issues like gentrification wouldn't be anywhere near as prominent if we hadn't had 50 years of sustained failure in housing policy. From this report.

    Wouldn't write off him coming back as part of the first team just yet. Think that Ings would love playing alongside him if we were to carry on playing two up top. And somewhat related, had a dream that I went to Forest to visit him. Asked if he was enjoying his stay and looking forward to making it permanent and he just looked back at me with puppy dog eyes and like hed been tricked into going there on false pretences. Probably a sign I'm secretly in love with him or something

    They are a better team and maybe 18 months ahead of us, fair play to them Moyes has done a good job there. That West Ham are troubling the top six is ultimately good for us, means it's possible for us to do it too. Rare that teams win four in a row in this league, I'd have taken a point better kick off. Wasn't to be. Onwards and upwards

    I also think people underestimate his capacity to remain first choice as we hopefully move towards challenging for Europe consistently. He will continue to improve as a player and a leader IMO Even as he gets older and we maybe do look to replace him in the first XI, I'd love for him to stick around and play a similar role as Vincent Kompany did for Citeh

    I've said it before, but the most important signing we've made in at least a decade is Tyrone. His arrival is when things turned around and its mostly been onwards and upwards since. I suspect that if we sign Coutinho permanently in the summer, we'll probably end up looking back at that as the most important signing of the next decade
