  1. Hes a massive Tranmere fan, lad I know sees him at away games
  2. In fairness I think commentators know how fans of different clubs view their collective identity and play up to a bit. With Leeds and Blues it's "proper fans" to go along with the salt of the earth working class narrative, with the likes of us and Everton you get a lot of "huge club, lots of history". You could pick out other examples too
  3. Proper hate the vile and not afraid of having the ruck, stood their ground at Milwall away in 1976, good lads, proper Blues Mate
  4. Mita Copiers: Dean Saunders Green Muller: Dalian Atkinson LDV Vans: Dion Dublin / Benito Carbone (my first Villa shirt, got on my 7th birthday and went to Erdington market to get my name printed on the back) NTL: David Ginola (oddly) Rover: Gareth Barry DWS: Angel (thought this was a terrible shirt, sponsor looks like it says COWS and the arrows pointing down has negative connotations) Acorns: John Carew FxPro: Stan Petrov Genting: Christian Benteke Dafabet: Ashley Westwood Quickbooks: Joleon Lescott Unibet: Albert Adomah Luke: Jack Grealish W88: Wesley (another odd one)
  5. It's a nice thought that you may have been stood next to my dad at some point when he was a much younger man, and here we are on a message board due to our shared love of the club. Will ask his precise opinion next time I see him, sure his view is similar to yours
  6. If you were to ask my old man he'd tell you they were the best days to be a Villa fan
  7. Can't have been the only one howling at Ally McCoist trying to pronounce his name last night? Came out as 'Loo-kass dee-gun' at one point
  8. All fair points mate and you're right to point out the midfield is much improved - I think having real competition in defence should improve all three of them, which can only be a positive thing. It's easy to forget how young Konsa is (especially for a CB), his form has dipped a bit recently but he'll be back at a high level soon enough
  9. Konsa is a very good player, but I think there are early signs that Chambers complements Mings (who remains by far our most important defender) much better than Ezri does. A nice problem to have, as all three are comfortably top half PL centre backs IMO
  10. Easily our most consistent player across the whole season IMO, others have shone brighter at times (Ramsey, Coutinho) but I can't think if anyone who has come close to him for consistency
  11. Amazed that anyone would entertain selling him other than for absolutely silly money, should be part of the core we plan the team around for the next few years. Has had a brilliant season for me
  12. Deserves huge credit for moving away from the 'system' and turning things around, we've been excellent the last three games. Hopefully puts to bed any notion of us needing a complete overhaul in the summer - we have a good squad of players now and should be focusing on adding bits of quality where needed rather than ripping it up and starting over again
  13. It was the "he'll never get that feeling in a City" shirt bit which made me take notice - it is a nice tweet from him though, people doubting that he really cared about the Villa are daft
  14. he's liked a tweet with a picture of him celebrating his goal at the Sty in the promotion season with this caption: "The pure passion & emotion of this game was unreal. Probably one of my favourite memories. How much it meant to him you can’t fake that. How much it meant to us. He will never get that feeling in a city shirt never. @JackGrealish. That day an absolute Don"
  15. Massively. There were a few times with us under McLeish and Lambert where we'd have been nailed on for relegation if the season had carried on for an extra few weeks, I suspect it will be similar for Everton end of this season
  16. They are in real trouble, I think a bit like us when we were on our way out, they will survive by virtue of someone being worse. If the ownership situation gets messy then things could go south very badly next season though
  17. That's mental mate - must be so frustrating trying to explain to people who won't listen. As an interesting aside, famous Villa fan Benjamin Zephaniah has said that when he was a young kid in Handsworth in Birmingham, he thought that he was living in Jamaica because Jamaican people and culture was all that he saw around him
  18. Tried a backheel, didn't come off, Man U go up the other end and score. Would be harsh but wonder if Pep and the other players will hold him responsible for that one
  19. The real issue here is whether or not we can still loan Januzaj IMO
