The RJW63 Official Jack Grealish Appreciation Thread
icouldtelltheworld replied to kevangrealish's topic in Other Football
Yeah lads seriously, I only said it was something I'd noticed which I found a bit odd/irrationally annoyed me (dating way back to when he was playing with us). It's not a conspiracy and he clearly is/was a Villa fan. It's not that deep -
As someone who is about to turn 30, I am immensely offended by your post and would like to report a hate crime
-
Chelsea really should have been much closer to the top 2. Very poor season in the end for them

Is it just me who finds it oddly annoying/a bit strange that he always refers to the club as Aston Villa rather than just Villa or the Villa? Completely irrational and probably one for the things which shouldn't annoy you thread, but I first noticed it a while back and can't stop noticing it every time he mentions the club now -
Player of the year: Cash Young player of the year: Ramsey Most improved player: Nakamba (slim pickings for this one tbh) Most regressed player: Konsa Best new signing (summer or winter window, loans count): Coutinho Worst new signing: Bailey Most underused player: Buendia Better manager (Deano or SG): Both massively underperformed for me Best victory: Man U away Worst loss: Man City on the final day wasn't worst, but annoyed me most Goal of the year: Ramsey against Norwich

Depends mate, some think he might be a bit long in the tooth these days
-
Agree completely, I'd have much rather Everton or Leeds gone down than Burnley
-
Population roughly the same as Redditch, they've done very well to stick around as long as they have. I agree that the scheduling of the game against us was unfair

The 9th in the form table since he arrived stat is arguably (IMO) skewed by the winning run when he first arrived. Since the turn of the year, we are 15th in the form table, having taken 23 points from 20 games. That is basically the form that eventually got Smith sacked. In 2022, our league form has been worse than Burnley's and we've taken just one point more than Leeds. This is despite bringing in Digne, Chambers and Coutinho. He really needs to hit the ground running next season, or we could well be looking at another wasted year. Seems he's going to be backed in the transfer window, so there should be no excuses next year - I expect much better than we've seen of late

At least we've got a few months off from the Villa ruining our weekends -

At least he didn't get on to play a part -
**** sake
-
Yep - on the balance of it he's had a decent half there, but just lacks the technique required to play at the very highest level
-
But the Villa are winning mate
-
Where have they got 4 minutes from
-
What a season Cash has had, brilliant header that
-
Get in!!!
-
And all of those clubs will view their season as a failure if they aren't top half and pushing for the European places - we should too
-
Measured and insightful as ever mate
-
Top half and troubling the European places. No excuses this time, especially if we are going to be splashing big money yet again- at some point we have to see return on the investment

Bumped into an old pal at New St yesterday and we were in agreement that the Villa are basically back to where they've always been in our lifetime (born 1992) - securely PL and distinctly unspectacular. No surprise that the atmosphere was better on our way back up, its going to get tougher for us now. Based on what I've seen this season, I don't think Gerrard is the man to take us to the next level and worry that the club is making decisions now that we will get wrong for many years to come, but here's hoping I'm wrong and we're on the cusp of something fantastic
-
I'd take a 2-0 loss with Grealish staying on the bench if it was offered to me right now tbh. So glad this season is over
-
Something in this IMO, looks much more comfortable next to Chambers, could be a good partnership forming there. I think it might partly be that Chambers is better on the ball than Konsa, which takes pressure off Mings. My old man pointed out against Palace that Emi looked to play the ball out short to Mings on his left every time he got it, until Chambers came on and he started to go to his right as well

We've just got a good draw against a team who have earned more points since Xmas than we have. Thank **** this season is nearly over
