    Only time will give us the proper perspective but I think the first half today was a good illustration of the pessimistic point of view (in terms of title chances). Winning when there is the prospect of improvement is great though. This manager won’t use the result to justify the things that were not so good. But really this is nit picking. I am thrilled at how we got the job done today.

    The U21s resolved their shorts colour clash with Swansea by wearing the blue shorts with the home shirt. Looks so much better than the all claret worn by the first team against Alkmaar, a much nicer balance of colours.

    I have a feeling the number of non-corporates on the Holte is still enough to fill Bournemouth’s ground and leave some outside. If the atmosphere is bad, corporate hospitality is not the reason in my view.

    It’s these straight passes through the middle of the pitch that get me going. Just not something we’ve really seen done well at Villa in the past. There are passages of play where we are making the game look easy.
