  1. But CL football isn’t what he has been saying or he would have stayed at Real. He wants to be the main man and wants to start, something neither PSG nor Real can offer.
  2. As I said, if the quotes attributed to h8m are true, then what PSG offer him is nothing different from Real. He won’t be the main man at PSG, but he would at Villa.
  3. Maybe, the quotes attributed to him say otherwise. Time will tell.
  4. Maybe, but how many managers have those players burned, some better than Mourinho.
  5. PSG can’t make any guarantees. They have no manager, Messi and Neymar are leaving and they couldn’t even keep their promises to Mbappe. He’s not really serious if he goes there.
  6. For me it was what he did off the pitch in the last 2 years that I’ll remember him for. Since probably O’Neil’s days we have lacked depth of leaders on the field, yes Mings has shown his qualities as a leader, but over the past 12 months we have seen Martinez, McGinn, Luiz and Ramsey really step up. To me that is because of Young and we will be a better team for it. I see why the club let him go, but he changed my view of him on his second spell at the club, not just his playing, but how he supported and encouraged the rest of the squad. Villa Legend.
  7. I believe Arse, Manure and Newcastle are catchable because we have a better manager and we saw glimpses of that this season. All while they have had a head start over Emery. The owners need to show their ambition and back Emery season on season, if they do that, then we can go toe to toe with them.
  8. The reality is there’s no guarantee that Young’s body will hold up for another 12 months and the level the manager will be wanting the team to play at next season, let alone the extra games. Just like when he left the club for Man Utd, the manager has made a decision which is best for Aston Villa. We can be sentimental about it as fans, but we are in a far better place now as a club and Young has been part of that journey over the past 2 seasons and helped make us a better team with his leadership.
  9. Agree, been a huge fan of him for several years, I’ll believe it when he’s in that villa kit.
  10. To be honest, I think this is probably the most likely scenario. I believe we have a better manager tactically than most of the so called Top 6, but we still lack the depth and quality to be a Top 4 club next season. I believe Top 6 is achievable, but may take 2-3 seasons to make a serious Top 4 challenge. Depends on how much the club is going to back Unai and whether consistent over several transfer windows.
  11. Mate, if your wife is anything like mine, she knows how much the club means to us. PS the wife set the precedent in 2019 when she let me fly half way around the world for the Championship play off final. I plan on milking that
  12. Already told my boss that in 12 months time he could be given short notice of annual leave, so I can fly to Europe to watch Villa in the Conference League Final. You have to dream.
  13. I don’t see how Barnes improves the current squad. There are flashes of quality but far too much inconsistency for me.
  14. Very happy for Marvellous, look like he’s found a club which he can call home. Hopefully Luton can get a deal done. Also happy to see Luton back in the top division again. Makes the PL interesting, rather than the same yo-yo clubs returning.
  15. I don’t think it’s just the commercial side, it’s president of business operations. The role suggests Heck will oversee the V Sports business operations worldwide and Purslow I would suggest, will have to submit business plans both operational and commercial to Heck for approval. The owners will also be able to take a further step back. At the end of the day Purslow is CEO of Villa and Heck will be the President of V Sports which Villa feed into, so makes sense and ensures the responsibilities of the other clubs don’t interfere in Purslow’s role at Villa.
  16. I don’t know, sometimes things are very simple. The more plausible narrative is that Cruyff leaving has tipped him the other way.
  17. No, I said we could get 4-6 points and it may or may not be enough. We can only control our performances.
  18. As I said, we can’t control what other teams do, only what we do. And at the end of 90min after the Brighton game, we will know whether what we have done will be good enough to get us into Europe.
  19. We can’t control the performances of the other teams, but we can still get a point or win at Liverpool and the 3 points against Brighton. Still a lot to play for for the Villa.
  20. The press always needs something to talk about, regularly get it wrong and never apologise for it. Under this manager we adjust the tactics to suit the opponent, if they bothered to watch Villa regularly they would get it, not a one off on a team who weren’t good enough to break us down.
  21. Maybe Emery knows how to get the best out of him? Technically a very good player but always had the impression he was a bit too lightweight physically for the PL.
  22. I don’t believe JWP is an upgrade on the current midfield. At best for us he is a specialist player who you could bring on when chasing the game, hoping to get a free kick within range. Yes he could start 20+ games a season, but Emery wants players who are an upgrade on the current squad. The game could well be going that way with a free kick specialist, but can’t see him sitting on a bench for Villa or the club affording him for that role.
  23. I think it's having the confidence that there is someone on the bench in the case of injury. I'd rather all those players playing or on the bench than what we currently have. Your right though, he's not starting in front of Ramsey at this point in time.
  24. The potential and ability was always there with Luiz, you could see it from when he was signed, fans forget how young he was at the time. Now we are seeing the player who week in week out can run the midfield and will only continue to improve.
  25. Had Burn in his pocket all day, great performance.
