  1. Should be mate, she's never really shown any interest in the Villa, but she's always allowed me to jump on a plane and go and watch Villa play like the Championship play off final.
  2. That’s the problem, the wife is a princess, so will only stay in certain places and wants to go Santorini as well. 3 days in Athens has turned into 3 weeks in Greece… Might have to get a second job.
  3. If that is the case, most likely a metatarsal bone in the foot. Depends on where the fracture is, sometimes they can heal themselves within 6-8 weeks but if need to be pinned then at least another 4 weeks on that timeframe. Generally a stress fracture condition from overuse, or even another growth phase.
  4. Yes, already booked. The only downside was the wife invited herself along…
  5. I agree, the biggest question is whether Emery wants to keep him. But I also think Gerrard wouldn’t be doing the club any favours after being sacked, Coutinho knows he can’t coach, so would have to be more interested in a pay day than playing for something. And while I agree Coutinho had a big profile, think it has diminished the last few years.
  6. I’d be surprised if Gerrard went in for Coutinho. I think if Emery wants him to stay he will, he might be mates with Gerrard but he also knows he can’t coach. He would be going for the money like so many of these apparently professional footballers with no ambition.
  7. I don’t think so. Torres is a far more important signing than Torres….
  8. I think a lot of times the "big" clubs go for the shiny new toy rather than choose what is staring them in the face. For the past 4 years Torres has been mentioned in just about every discussion on a potential transfer, whether it has been the likes of Manure, Liverpool, Bayern, Chelski etc but those clubs chose the new toy. It's hilarious that a CB with a Europa Cup wining medal and a CL semifinalist was still at Villareal. That he turned down Spurs and wanted to work with Emery says more about the player. We know how good he is and as long as we make the progression under Emery, he will be here for a few years or someone will spend silly money to get him, either way it's a win-win for Villa.
  9. I don't believe there's a realistic interest from Manure, they are set on Onana. Just media making things up.
  10. I haven't written him off yet, he does some brilliant things on the pitch, especially in lead up play which goes unnoticed a lot. If he had direct competition, we may see his stats improve.
  11. I had the same first impression, but then it’s an Inter team that made a CL final, good manager and squad and will probably push Napoli for the title next season.
  12. Thuram to Inter. I know there were early rumours but doubt we were in for him.
  13. Pretty sure Gueye and Milner could kick a ball…
  14. Had a chance to listen to GE, he was over the top with his negativity, he just banged on that it is tight and we needed to move some players on. We all know there is some dead wood there, but that is part of the reason why Monchi was brought in. I thought it was interesting that he used Chuck as a reason why we had to sell for FFP reasons, but he didn’t want to sign a contract and had 12 months left on his contract. Very weird commentary.
  15. Just woke up in Australia, immediately jump onto Villa Talk to see this great news. Great signing UTV. Now I know which player will be on my new Villa jersey.
  16. Think Luton will get a deal done, I agree Villa could use him in some early cup games, but be surprised if Emery doesn’t have him stamped for a transfer.
  17. I think to be a Luton fan this season would be exciting, yes they want to compete and stay in the PL, but you would also have to be realistic, they are a small club, extremely well run and a good manager, but they don’t have an owner who can throw money at players. You only have to look at the past few seasons with teams that have been promoted, it’s taking 3 seasons for these teams to get stable. Fulham, Leeds, Sheffield Utd, Norwich, Watford, Burnley etc. have all been up and down, up and down, really only Villa, Brentford, Brighton that have been able to establish themselves. Planning for reality is better than a wild gamble.
  18. I didn’t get the impression they are cash strapped, just that they want to be sustainable and accept that they may be relegated, but will be in a good position, unlike other teams who have been relegated in recent years.
  19. Maybe, but they seem to have a long term vision and aren’t going to throw money and silly wages at players. If they get relegated they won’t be in a financial mess and should be able to go again.
  20. I understand, but listening to the podcast with their CEO, I got the feeling that they are being careful and are looking 5-10 years down the road to be sustainable.
  21. They have to spend £10-15m on the stadium to be PL compliant, they will be watching the pennies as don’t get first PL payment until mid July from a podcast I listened to, at the same time I’m sure a deal will get done.
  22. To me, people seem to be looking for excuses as to why we don’t need another CB. The reality is that Torres improves our central defence and if we sign him, will be one of the starting CB’s at the end of the season.
  23. McGinn has made the captaincy his own.
