  1. Ange doesn’t take his own people with him, he believes he can work with the coaching staff at the club. Dies the same at every club, but will bring in someone who he can work with and big on educating coaches, so good fit for Mille.
  2. Disappointed to see him leave, but his plan is to be a manager one day. The pathway to that would have halted at Villa with Emery and his team coming in, so not a surprise that he has made the move, especially with Ange now at Spurs and working with him previously as a player and captain of Australia. Wish him the best.
  3. Or maybe interest in Gil who was good on loan at Sevilla or the persistent rumours of Lo Celso…cheeky Ndombele bid?
  4. I think there may have been a shift between Spurs targets and when they signed Ange. There’s rumours floating around that’s he likes Kamada and Endo and wouldn’t be a surprise if he targets some of the top tier Japanese players based in Europe. It may be a reason why they possibly changed on Maddison.
  5. I think you find there's a base sponsorship figure, then bonuses based on where we finish in the PL, if we go a long way in the cups and make and win finals in cups. The more exposure, the more sponsorship money. They would have known the bad publicity was coming, but how many people clicked on or googled their website because of the publicity? It's a win/win for them.
  6. I'd take it as a compliment. Sir Alex probably would have gone for him. Might be too early, but in another season if he continues to improve, both the Manure clubs may come knocking...

    Tyler Adams

This guy obviously doesn't know Villa that well, thinks Adams will be a starter at Villa, ahead of Kamara??? While I'm a little surprised at this link, Emery will make him a better player and he knows what is needed to compete in all competitions.
  8. The kit is fine by me, just think the sponsors logo makes it look worse than it is. With regards to the sponsor it doesn’t make me want to go out and have a bet. I understand some people suffer from addiction, but they also suffer from alcoholism and other vices and there’s no restriction on these and others. There’s companies with sordid pasts who have been far more harmful than gambling but they aren’t banned and people use them in every day products. The club has been a bit tone deaf on this sponsor, ultimately what is best financially for the club has overridden what we as fans want to see the club represented as in the community. They’ve tried to use the money to charity angle to soften the use of BK8 but in the end it’s just putting lipstick on a pig.
  9. Celtic finished 25 points behind Rangers the previous year, they lost Edouard, Ajmer & Christie to PL clubs and numerous other players. I’d like to see another European manager bring in untried Japanese players from the j league who showed they were up to the level and some believe 1 or 2 are PL standard players. This is the same job the Newcastle manager turned down due to lack of funds for transfers and key players leaving the club. A lot of commentators thought it was a difficult job to walk into and would take time for Celtic to get back to the top. Yet he did it in one season with mostly unknown players not tested at that level. A bit of context is required rather than the boring narrative that it’s the Scottish League.
  10. Agree. He had a lot of raw potential and was starting to show that before that injury basically destroyed his career. If the club had of been in a better position when we signed him and didn’t have to throw him in the deep end, we might now have a very good striker on our hands. Unfortunately that will probably never be realised.
  11. That’s if you believe Conte’s narrative. It’s more about his ego. And I wasn’t talking about Levy, I was talking about the current squad. You can keep your blinkers and say untested manager, but he has tested himself at every level and been successful.
  12. But that’s the thing, he wasn’t handed a championship team, he lost all his best players and was a rebuild. Yet he still won two trophies in his first season and with everyone writing him off. He has always been written off by people who think they know more and he has proven them wrong, each and every time. He’s won an Asian Cup as manager of Australia, he didn’t have the best squad as Japan and South Korea would have stronger squads. Those Spurs players have no idea what is coming, he will sort them out very quickly and get rid of the ones who don’t buy in.
  13. You’re right about Kane, but there’s no uncertainty with how Ange will do. It will be more difficult without Kane, but he will fix the other areas.
  14. This is a huge change in the operations of the club and will be interesting to watch how Monchi and others are able to make a sustained impact on the future success of the club.
  15. You look at the draw and see one of the first round matches is Burnley v Man City with Kompany’s return, there’s nothing random about this or the first 5 of 8 games for Villa being away.
  16. Just another excuse from Southgate. Next year it will that conference league experience isn’t real European experience. Let alone he selects a player who has the bench permanently tattooed on his backside this season.
  17. Emi just made a huge save in Argentina v Australia match in China. Messi scored in the second minute, brilliant goal.
  18. The playing minutes aren’t going to impact on a players ability or physical performance, they will increase the chance of long term injury if not properly managed. Tielemans issues were Rodgers playing him twice a week becuase there was no other option, playing an extra 25 games a season than the rest of the squad which will affect a player over the course of a season. Properly rested and managed, we will see the best of the player.
  19. It works in other sporting competitions. In the NRL in Australia each team has to submit the players contract/wages for approval and they have a specialist salary cap auditor who keeps track of each team and undertake random audits of clubs finances. It’s not perfect but keeps the competition relatively even and then comes down to the coaching, which is the way it should be.
  20. Nope. Be like watching the Titanic turn in the water, slow and slow. Way past his prime.
  21. He can go back to Dortmund, they’ve already fleeced Manure once and cashed up with Bellingham leaving.
  22. You would get an idea of previous seasons with a player and work on those numbers. It’s never at exact science, but Watkins for example, if you worked on 17 goals a season you wouldn’t be far off.
  23. If they’re going to the player, they would be considered part of the players salary. If this came to fruition, the clubs would have to leave some room under their salary cap to cater for player goal bonuses etc.
  24. I’m not sure that I agree entirely. I think Purslow’s tenure showed he had limitations with regards to managerial appointments including club transfers, he did appoint Smith, which worked for 3 years. He did a good job with the off field running of the club and I just believe he had a set skill set and the owners realised for the club to grow new people with those skill sets were required. This diminished his role and probably rightly realised it was time to move on, even though the owners thought this would occur with the changes.
  25. If I heard correctly he was also playing an extra 25 games a season than the rest of the squad the last couple of seasons becuase Rodgers had no other options. Let alone being asked to play twice a week after coming back from injury mid season. Funny how some fans can’t see the forest for the trees.
