  1. He was poor today, really struggled to read the game and is poor with the ball at his feet.
  2. As much as we all want a cup run, this isn’t the season for it, that’s Gerrard’s doing. Emery needed to learn about the players he has, but also be mindful of wanting the 3 points on the weekend against Brighton. I thought we were ok besides the individual errors. It was the errors that cost us, not great play from Manure. Today showed that the weekend was no fluke, it was our fatigue levels in the last 25 minutes and those errors that cost us the game.

    Unai Emery

The performance was reflective of having an elite manager in charge of the club, well done Unai. Its going to be great entertainment watching Manure fans melting down again.
  4. I like both, ultimately when I looked at both badges and compared them against the other PL clubs the second badge stood out more to me. I’m leaning towards the second one.
  5. Agree, everything was a lot more toned down and measured.

    Unai Emery

The one thing I’m taking away from Emery’s appointment is that everything seems to be being toned down and measured in regards to the clubs aspirations, which is a good thing. It’s should always be about giving the players the tools and support to be successful on the pitch. If Emery is able to communicate clearly and the players buy in, then those aspirations will hopefully become a reality.
  7. They use the same protocol in rugby league, rugby union, Aussie rules and football in Australia. They have a doctor on the side lines and they will pull a player off the field and have them assessed in the change rooms, if it’s mild there allowed to continue to play after 15 minutes if a higher grade they don’t come back on and generally sat down for a minimum of 7 days or longer and have to have a medical clearance.
  8. Medical teams grade the concussions in sport and run memory tests based on base questions the sportsperson has undertaken in pre season. This way they can decide what grade the concussion is. For example a Grade 1 is considered minor and a sportsperson could be back on the field 15 minutes later. Grade 2 & 3 wouldn’t see a return to play.
  9. I watch all the pods and they all have their positives and negatives. He delivers his show differently than the others as far more edited, but I also think he delivers his show with a bit on humour which some miss and can be taken the wrong way. I’m not sure what the travelling to Villa Park bit was about, I understand he wants to create ‘better content’ but he lost me. I’ve done it a few times from Australia (3 times in length what he has to travel) and planning to go again in March next year, so don’t get why he hasn’t undertaken the pilgrimage. Being at the championship play off final was one of the best days I’ve had as a supporter. I won’t be paying £5 on patreon to watch him which is a shame as I like his program.

    Unai Emery

Very happy with this appointment, proper manager with a winning mentality. I said the other day that Emery was my preferred choice after reading an article on the weekend regarding our squad and prospective coaches who would suit our players. It said that Emery would be the best choice over Poch and Amorim. Im starting to believe there was more to this and the club had been sounding him out and others prior to sacking the previous manager. The club has done their due diligence on this appointment, unlike the last and has me excited for what might be to come. Lets all get behind the new manager.
  11. Looks like Danks has a good relationship with most of the players. He obviously simplified everything and the players responded. Great job.
  12. Had a great game today, hard to see how he doesn’t start the next match.
  13. Can’t remember the last time I enjoyed watching Villa play.
  14. I think some fans have to get away from the personal crap. The club appointed Gerrard, the club buys players, we don’t know what goes on on a daily basis within the club. I believe every player and manager go to training and every match wanting to be successful. Its ok to show our emotions I just believe a lot is misdirected at times and should never be personal.
  15. I like Amorim, he may well be the next big manager in Europe and we will have to decide whether we can take another risk with someone who doesn’t have much experience. I don’t believe there is a comparison to Gerrard, he was never the right choice for the club. Personally I’d rather we go for Emery, he ticks all the boxes and will get us out of the current mess. I think we may end up with Dyche though due to our current position and internal issues. He would get us out of this mess, I’m sure of it.
  16. I was reading an article this morning saying that Emery's tactics would better suit our players over Poch due to Poch's high press and concerns over the current midfield, Ings, Countinho etc to work within that style. It made some sense and hopefully the owners are making similar assumptions, rather than having another manager and having to change the squad again.
  17. I think the comments reflect what most of us have been feeling. Last month I stopped renewing my Optus Sport account because I was over waking up at 1, 2, 3am in the morning and paying to watch this dross. A new manager will be appointed, and we will go again as I have for the past 46 years.
  18. If i was walking in as manager, the first thing I would do is sit down with McGinn and help him come to the decision to step down as captain even if it's just for the rest of the season so he can concentrate on his football. I'd then make Young (won't be playing every game) captain for the rest of the season (don't believe that will be questioned and be a bit of a reset) and revert to Martinez when Young isn't playing.
  19. Gerrard’s ego was ultimately the problem. He was a champion player, however coaching is different from being a player, the ability to communicate your tactics clearly, to break information down to educate and teach your players, the psychology of performance and ultimately man management. Theres a reason most elite athletes are not not elite coaches, sometimes the ones who have to work hard to be good learn more from developing the skills, rather than those who are naturally gifted.
  20. Nothing to celebrate, Gerrard should never of been appointed, hopefully the club learns from this mistake. Gerrard was a deer in headlights the last 2 months and just reacting at the last minute in the end. I hope he is able to salvage his coaching career somewhere else, but has a lot to learn and can’t be fast tracked again.
  21. The biggest challenge for the club in attracting a top manager is the damage that has been done by Gerrards appointment. The club should have pulled the trigger 6 weeks ago, now it’s a potential relegation scrap with a playing group that has seen two managers sacked within a 12 month period. A lot of promises will need to be made to possibly attract one of these managers, the question is whether the club is in the position to meet them?
  22. Purslow made a bad decision on appointing Gerrard, but the day to day business of the club has been excellent under his tenure. Hopefully now the owners know this and will restrict his ability to interfere in football matters.
  23. That’s just semantics.
  24. You mean like Gerard did last season…? Your right the squad is underachieving, but this is the same squad who will now have the scalps of two managers in 12 months, that’s what any decent potential manager will be considering.
  25. The club should have put Gerrard out of his and our misery a month ago, but didn’t have the bottle because it was Gerrard. Should never have been appointed and should never have gone on for this long and now has put the club in jeopardy of relegation. What decent manager would even want to touch the club now?
