  1. I’ve overstated it after spending too much time looking at the table and thinking about permutations - my bad, but it’s a nice change to be able to dream of it at least. What I am thinking is that before long if this carries on we are going to have to acknowledge that early form under Emery might actually not just be a purple patch. 6 points from the next two games and I don’t think anyone will be able to deny that we are in the mix for champions league spaces at least.
  2. Getting ahead of myself but if we win the next two games against Forest and Fulham, we will genuinely be thinking about a title run, especially if Spurs lose to Chelsea and Brentford get something from Liverpool next week.
  3. The Villa of old would be arrogant and lose 1-0. I expect Emery to keep everyone focussed, I can see it being tighter than everyone thinks but still 2-0
  4. Hypothetically, if Emery finished the season winning the Conference League and got us into the champions league, would it make him the best manager in our history given the strength of opposition he’s facing?
  5. There is going to come a point where this thread is no longer an ironic one.
  6. That is ridiculous. Being associated with this brand is going to damage the reputation of teams/clubs - I imagine that’s why Heck wants out of the deal.
  7. The guy has something a bit special about him. The way he moves on the pitch is different to anything else we have.
  8. I presumed that’s what the star on our current badge represented?
  9. With the news starting to leak that Villa are looking to end this agreement; it seems rather convenient the news regarding the unfitness for purpose is really being hammered. Would suspect Heck is looking to put his name next to the kit supplier deal with an agreement with Adidas/Nike etc.
  10. There will be plenty of jokes I'm sure about this situation with the womens team - but if the women do wear this kit, it could be a massive PR disaster for the club,
  11. How can you not love him? Genuinely wouldn’t swap him for any other keeper in world football.
  12. The really great thing about this win is that everyone will be focussed on Chelsea’s decline, we will quietly go on about our business. Proud of the lads.
  13. Gets a lot of grief, mostly unwarranted. Glad he can enjoy our club still.
  14. Thanks OBE for the representation and feedback. I think a large portion, although not entire, diminishing of relations in regard to the match day experience will be solved with the addition of the extra capacity. It is understandable that they want to maximise the spend of the 42k they are limited to at the moment - but feels sort of hard considering those being squeezed have filled that stadium during some really hard times. To hear that plans are potentially even further behind schedule is disturbing on many levels, mostly because this disconnect will only grow wider until “GE” admissions grow to a level where pretty much everyone who wants a standard ticket can get one. As someone who is reliant on using trains to get back to the westcountry, when I’m queuing for a train, I don’t blame Villa at all for this when I’m in my fortnightly hour wait. If Villa have any capacity to (planning wise), I would urge them to just build the bloody increase and force the local governments hand with the rail expansion that way.
  15. I think he’d be the first to say that we lost our way in the second half today, but the sign of a good team is winning when not playing well.
  16. What a hit. Was right in line with the goal, and still not sure how he kept it down on the turn.
  17. I think he’s unlike any centre back I’ve seen in a Villa shirt before. Ludicrous passing talent. What he surrenders in defensive problems, we will more than make up with offensive opportunities.
  18. Firstly; I think we should never forget that we would not have Emery without the foundations Smith put in place. In the grand scheme of things if we do carry on the upward trajectory Smith should always be respected for what he’s done for the club. As others have said, I imagine Smith will look at Emery happy with how the club is progressing and also pleased that his legacy is being built on rather than ripped up like Gerrard nearly did.
  19. Regardless of a late addition. Feel like we’ve done fantastic business. Kudos to the club, it doesn’t feel like there is any deadwood now.
  20. I don’t fear anyone in that list of teams. Bring on whoever it is.
  21. Bit different when one is out of contract and the other is sold though, no?
