  1. What a performance. That run for the second goal should start to dispel some of the commonly held views on his fitness and output - inside and outside of Villa fans.
  2. On companies house NSWE Stadium Ltd show a consistent annual turnover of £2.6m. It’s fair to assume that is the rent ‘we’ pay to play at Villa park. That probably is about market rate, so a new shiny stadium would probably cost us £4-5m a season, which would start to become a noticeable percentage of our turnover
  3. A lot of emotional responses would be an immediate ‘no’. But fact is he would thrive in our team by being the number 10 again. I think it would be a big statement signing if we got back in the champions league and signed him back.
  4. That Champions League music is going to sound so sweet when they play it over the tannoy. Today feels like a good step closer to sealing top 5. A win over Wolves and a defeat for United after the international break and I would feel like we are almost there.
  5. I get a sense that the new rules may provide more opportunities for grey areas. There’s obviously more scope for big revenue sides, but I think Villa and Newcastle will see the new rules as an opportunity and a way to loosen the belt a little this summer - and ultimately will live with it.
  6. I’m assuming 5th will be enough to qualify. If we win 5 it means Man Utd will need to win 8 of their last 10, and they still have to play Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle and Brighton.
  7. We most likely need 5 wins from 10 to get Champions league. A win against West Ham and Wolves and this Spurs business all becomes a distant memory.
  8. Almost as important as our own game, West Ham doing a job on Freiburg would be tremendous.
  9. I’m feeling quite relaxed about all this. These are not the days of Ellis and Xia, I trust Sawiris to find a way through this anti-competitive tripe.
  10. I believe extending the reporting year to end of June is a master stroke this year. I would assume that means more prize monies are included.
  11. Utterly staggering when you see the numbers like that. Thanks!
  12. Thought he was decent today. He doesn’t dominate in the air and he isn’t going to split the midfield with a cutting pass, but does the basics well enough.
  13. As I remind people at work - consultation is not negotiation.
  14. There are some ‘names’ in this draw, but we genuinely are easily the best side left in this now. It’s the inexperience or travel that will pose the biggest challenge to us.
  15. If he had pace, he’d be labelled as a Maldini
  16. Spurs don’t play next weekend. We could really ease the pressure by beating Forest at home.
  17. Got to say from my perspective at least, I am really glad that I’ve not heard Emery making excuses about potential results because of injuries. His predecessor would have told us what an uphill task Fulham is because of them.
  18. You’ve been damaged by the Villa of old. The pain is real.
  19. Just arrived in Brum and feeling confident. If we see Pau on that team sheet I think we can go in with some optimism here.
  20. Definitely has the ‘mind games’ feel about it.
