  1. Spot on. 4th year in a row we're talking about relegation albeit unlikely but more worrying is that we'll possibly end up with fewer points than last season. Unacceptable. Well done Lerner.
  2. Very mature. Who would you replace Lambert with? some may think you are trolling gentleman but I will give you the benefit of doubt. Shame that you resort to possibly the weakest of arguments to try and cause problems though. The who would you replace him with is weaker than a lambert team talk. Your defence of lambert has no real evidence of clear convincing argument as far as I can see. Why not try and convince the vast majority who are now calling for his head why they are wrong? I look forward to a sensible answer back .... I am not trolling boy, I am on this forum through the good and the bad at the club. Unlike some posters, who conveniently disappear when our young team are thumping the opposition 4-1 and rocking the giants of English football. Where were you after Norwich? Where were you after Chelsea? I assume you are secretly delighted with Fulham's victory against an injury-ravished side? It would not shock me at all given your maturity. My response to your post was genuine and blunt, I do not need to resort to the low level of personal abuse to defend a certain position. It was a fair question, and I do think somebody who has a strong case for sacking Lambert would be able to answer it. My defence of Lambert has been stated many times over, it does not need to be repeated for the sake of my sanity and others. To put it simply, I believe in managerial continuity given the conditions at our club, I think sacking Lambert will lead to more turmoil and frustration. Additionally, I still believe Paul Lambert has a lot to offer the club. It is not my job to convince anybody. You are free to think and behaviour as you wish but I implore you to keep it respectful, you are representing my club. Gentleman I enjoy reading your posts as they are considered and well written rather than knee jerk like so many others. I also suspect that you are around my age and have witnessed much better and much worse times than the current position. I would love Lambert to succeed and have defended him all season. I acknowledge that today we were without 5 players that would normally be in the starting eleven; but overall we haven't progressed since last season, at best we have stagnated or maybe even regressed. Change is needed to avoid another repeat scenario next season. The change I would prefer would be for Lerner to splash the cash but it's not going to happen is it? Let's hope he sells to someone that has both the desire and finances to drive us forward because I'd like to see what Lambert could do if he was allowed to spend money to add real quality to the squad.
  3. Totally agree. Even the most basic headers were directed directly to opposition players. He is young and there's time for him to improve but I doubt neither him or the current first team coaching staff have the ability to do so.
  4. I still say stick with him [just] But interested about you not wanting another rebuilding plan - should Lambert stay thats what he will be doing - talk of this squad only needing two or 3 new faces are miles wide of the mark... I agree we need more than 3 players so in terms of rebuilding I was referring to another manager starting from scratch. I'm not sure I trust Lambert to get it right either so either way it doesn't bode well unless Lerner loosens the purse strings and I doubt that will happen.
  5. I have defended Lambert up until now as I've always thought his hands have been tied behind his back. I understand he had 4 key players missing today but the painful truth is that we have gone backwards this season. As much as I don't want to endure another rebuilding project from a new manager I really fear for us next season. I've had season tickets for over 40 years but I cannot justify forking out for 3 more next season to watch us dish up yet more turgid drivel.

    Gordon Smith

Sad news, he was a tidy player that never let us down.
  7. Fantastic post, you are a credit to this forum. Seconded.
  8. you know the difference between one day and call up now Obviously not.
  9. We're fine, we're not going down. I wish Benteke a speedy return to full fitness.
  10. Westwood will play for England one day. Hopefully whilst still with us.
  11. Moses is a great shout - would like him here without doubt.
  12. He is apparently attracting interest from a lot of clubs. Certainly played very well against us. I remember seeing him in the Championship and he looked good I had a look up online and some of the Palace fans seemed to think he might end up being better than Zaha, I wasn't sure if they were just saying that out of wishful thinking though because they knew Zaha was going to Man Utd. A Palace STH I know has been telling me for the last 2 years that Bolasie is better than Zaha.
  13. Absolutely correct. Gabby has been here through thick and thin, I feel he deserves a lot more respect than to be judged like a piece of meat. He is one of us. And also a fantastic ambassador for this great club. I personally think it is great when our supporters connect with the players (whether they support Villa or not), it is brilliant. Football is becoming too dehumanised and more about "results". We need good qualities like loyalty and hope to keep us going through the challenging times. Gentleman I agree with everything you say but in return us supporters have the right to expect players to put in a shift and Gabby hasn't done so in the last 2 games.
  14. Would much rather have him on the bench than Sylla. I like his high tempo pressing which has been sadly missing since KEA went off injured against Stoke.
  15. Spot on. Shouldn't start against Fulham as his last 2 displays have been unacceptable.
  16. Agree. John Gregory tried to adopt the same approach and it never worked hence why he dropped down the leagues.
  17. Indeed. He's young and inconsistent, he'll improve next season.
  18. Disagree, it's a good to win game as then we can breathe a sigh of relief. We don't need to hit 40 points to be safe.
  19. I think after throwing away victory from being two goals up yesterday is a massive kick in the gonads for Sandwell Town. Speaking to a couple of their fans this morning, they are flat and fear the worst. Let's hope so.
  20. Given how poor Bacuna was against Fulham at the Cottage I'd consider recalling Lowton. At least Berbatov won't be lining up against us. We'll win because it will be shit or bust for Fulham so they'll have to go for the win which should suit us.
  21. £86 for tickets, £40 fuel & parking plus £20 on food and drinks. Try justifying that to my good lady. Enough said.
  22. Plenty of players have needed dropping during the season and haven't, lambert has his 11 and its pretty much set no matter how dire they are. Whilst not disagreeing with you, the apparaent lack of effort by Gabby might force Lamberts's hand.
  23. Looked totally disinterested today. Needs a wake up call so time to bench him.
