  1. I firmly believe we have some of the best supporters in the land, but we are not faultless by any means. For example, some of the unnecessary abuse dished out to our players in the last few months has been nothing short of disgusting. Additionally, we are talking about young players who are still developing. This behaviour is the antithesis of support. It is unforgivable and makes the atmosphere volatile for everybody associated with this great club. It is not acceptable. The real question now is how can Villa supporters help the team? There is no time to dwell on the past and play the blame game. Get behind Lambert and the boys for the remaining games. What is the alternative? Go to the Hull game and lay into the people playing for us. That makes logical sense. Supporters are at games to support their team, it is as simple as that. We need "support" on Saturday, no excuses. He is having some fun. I have no doubts VR believes in what he posts but gets too carried away with himself. Labelling people with different opinions as "trolls" or "attention seekers" is a weak argument. I understand the anger over the last four years but it still does not excuse poor support. We are so much better. It is not about Lambert. It is about Aston Villa staying in the league. Spot on
  2. Maybe just maybe Blues relegation just before we kick off on saturday will lift the atmosphere at VP and help us to 3 points.
  3. He certainly put the effort in on saturday, the difference last season being that Benteke was occupying the central defenders so Andi could ghost into goal scoring positions. This season he's making the runs but the ball isn't sticking up front. I don't think he's fully fit either.
  4. He lives in the same village as me and the gossip is he's off.
  5. he was strangely confident of beating Wigan and getting 4 points from these 2 games He came across as.... well.... a bit mental really. Did you see the bit at the end where he said he hoped he didn't bump into the reporter on holiday? He's off at the end of the season anyway so that may account for his behaviour.
  6. There must be 2 Ashley Westwoods then because I've been watching a very different one to the Rodders has watched. One of us could well be a plonker.
  7. He was cracking when we got passed off the park at home to Fulham, Stoke, West Ham, Newcastle. He was even runragged by Sheff United. If Westwood is a cracking little player it just shows how far we have fallen. He wouldn't have got anywhere near our side even 3 years ago, he wouldn't have got in the side when we had DJx2, McCann, Berson and Bakke.
  8. I'll agree, we've played worse and won this season. Certainly in the frst half and arguably up until the 3rd goal we were the better team but heads dropped when they got the 3rd goal. It was a better performance than Southampton last week.
  9. Best avoid this thread until next saturday evening. I'm an optimist and I'm very confident we'll be fine but a quick glance at some of the posts on here is enough to make you want to take valium. Even if we don't get another point I seriously doubt Naarich, Fulham and Cardiff will pick up sufficient points or overcome the goal difference to overtake us. Time to relax and focus all energies on supporting the team on saturday rather than worrying over things that may not happen. If results go against us on saturday then maybe that's the time to call the Samaritans.
  10. He's already better than decent. For all the stick Lambert gets for his signings, Westwood, Vlaar, Benteke and possibly both Kozak and Okore will prove to be astute signings. Benteke is the headline player but for me Westwood is on a par with him when you consider value for money. You could potentially add Bacuna to that list if he can improve next season. Agreed - add Bacuna to the list.

  12. The key game for me next saturday is the Fulham fixture as I really cant see Naarich or Cardiff overtaking us. After Fulham dropped 2 points in what their manager had described as a must win fixture yesterday I'd still much rather be in our position than theirs.
  13. You can re-post whenever you like. The fact remains most(nearly all) fans believe that many managers could have done better! My opinion will not be swayed with a result against hull at home, i know that much. Most or nearly all that post on here maybe. Not everyone is of the same opinion across the wider fan base.
  14. Dreadful display today. League 1 player.
  15. Fulham will stay up If they do it won't be at our expense. They need to win both games to finish above us and they won't do it.
  16. Just back from the Liberty and have to agree with romavillan. Our play today was decent at times. Up until the 3rd goal we were the better team. Had we not conceded the 2nd goal so soon after equalizing we would've picked up at least a point. The crowd really turned on both the players and Lambert so there's no way back for him now. Without doubt Baker is the poorest central defender we've had since Steve Sims. He was nowhere near Bony for the first goal and I said to my kids just beforehand that Baker was going to be caught out. We'll scrape enough points to survive but after forking out for 3 tickets, travel and food to get soaked and taunted by a load of Welsh inbreds isn't acceptable. Thanks AVFC for wrecking yet another weekend. Westwood MOTM for me
  17. Depends whether your site manager is into watersports
  18. I'd give Lambert at least until Christmas. He's worked under the remit of reducing the wage bill and moving on the high earners. He has had to sign players to boost the squad size on a limited budget hence why most are £1m - £2m and command low wages. This season he's been unlucky with injuries to Benteke, Okore znd Kozak who are his most expensive signings. On the basis that the emphasis will be that the future signings should be quality rather than quantity he deserves the opportunity to show what he can do now that the club is in better shape financially.
  19. They're only easy goals if you get yourself into a good position to make them easy. Exactly. I still don't understand where all this Kozak hate comes from. Has to be one of the most underrated Villa players in recent years purely because of how much unjust shit he gets from some fans. Because some cannot see past their own disdain for Lambert and cite Kozak as evidence. Despite some of his goals winning us matches. That's a bit unfair. I'm sure many people are capable of forming an opinion on a player without looking at who signed them or on what they cost. Or not as the case maybe. Back on topic, we're not going down.
  20. Pack the midfield to stop them passing through us. Guzan Lowton Vlaar Clark Bertrand Westwood KEA Albrighton Delph Weimann Gabby
  21. If they lose against Wet Spam this weekend the pressure will really be on them. How apt if Odemwingie scores to send them down on the last day.....
