Aren’t they (generally) words taken from other languages, though? Quiche is almost certainly not “English”.

Very few words in the English Language originate as English

Quarter is directly from the French which in turn gets it from Latin. Quiche on the other hand comes from the German Kuchen (cake) and I don't think the Germans have a Kw sound

Yes, true - although Qu in Latin is surely “Kw”?

Do those who say “corter” also say “headcorters”?

I'm not disagreeing with you, I was explaining that the difference in sounds between quarter and quiche stems from their origins
