When people eat ice cream cones in public, it almost drives me nuts. It's as bad as fingernails on a chalkboard or chewing ice. Something about the greedy, sloppy look of it ...

This, in a round about way, brings me to the completely irrational anger I get when people in TV ice cream adverts bite into ice cream. Who bites an ice cream?

I must confess I do, why wouldn't you?

When eating ice cream out of a bowl do you stick your face in and lick it?

I was contacted by HR at a company a few days ago to see if I was interested in a role there. Never heard of them before but they're quite a large company in the healthcare sector. I'm not looking to move, but it looked right up my street, so I agreed to a call to discuss it. We book something in quickly, I get a couple of reminders in the run up to the appointment yesterday and then...they just don't call. I sat there for the 15 minutes. Nothing. Still, this morning, to email with an apology, never mind an offer to reschedule.

Considering this is quite a specialised role and they're presumably struggling to fill it, I'm baffled that they seem to have ghosted me, but if that's how they treat potential hires, I dread to think of how they treat their actual staff. Bullet dodged.

No. You take a spoon of ice cream put it in your mouth and sort of let it slide down your throat. You don't chomp it do you.

Same with, say, a magnum you don't bite it like a mars bar. You sort of put it in your mouth and slide it back out.

Assuming you mean an ice cream like a magnum or a feast… then me. I do that. How else do you eat it?

I absolutely do the opposite of what you are doing

Yes I do chomp at it

I do eat a magnum like a mars bar

I much prefer eating ice cream in its solid state, none of this softening it up at room temp nonsense, straight out of the freezer, into my bowl and down the hatch before it melts

First you nibble off the outer layer. Then you sort of lick away at the ice cream in the middle.

You described it better than me.

So TIL, people chew ice cream, and bite magnums.

Things must be worse than I thought under the Tories.

It was banned under the EU, a Brexit benefit.

Well that's a given, but I still don't munch on it like a bereft horse.

My Mrs bites ice-creams, lollies, ice-cubes, the lot. Drives me mental, I have to leave the room 😅

Her inner monologue - "God he's driving me **** mental. I know ..."
