Luna - (Seville)

Here are some game details. On paper, looks like some fairly mixed performances, which you might expect because we are buying a young player who is just gaining his first experiences of first team football. He was better toward the end of his loan spell which suggests he learned things and benefited from the experience.

Luna played 11 games for Mallorca, W2 D2 L7.

turnover and dispossessed = -ve

everything else = +ve

Won

Mallorca 1 : 0 Betis

position: LD. 1 key pass, 88% passing accuracy, 2 tackles, 3 interceptions, 1 turnover

Mallorca 4 : 2 Valladolid LAST GAME

position: LD. 2 key pass, 100% passing accuracy, 4 tackles, 1 interception, 2 dispossessed

Drawn

Mallorca 1 : 1 Osasuna

position: LD. 2 key pass, 73% passing accuracy, 1 tackle, 2 interceptions, 2 dispossessed

Athletico 0 : 0 Mallorca

position: LD. 1 key pass, 70% passing accuracy, 4 tackles, 2 interceptions

Lost

Mallorca 2 : 3 Deportivo

position: LD. 65% passing accuracy, 2 tackles, 4 interceptions, 2 turnovers

Granada 2 : 1 Mallorca

position: LD. 54% passing accuracy, 5 tackles, 2 interceptions

Mallorca 1 : 3 Getafe

position: LD. 77% passing accuracy, 1 tackle, 4 interceptions

Valencia 2 : 0 Mallorca

position: LD. 2 key passes, 79% passing accuracy, 1 tackle, 3 interceptions, 1 turnover

Real Sociedad 3 : 0 Mallorca

position: LD. 57% passing accuracy, 3 tackles, 6 interceptions, 2 turnovers

Valladolid 3 : 0 Mallorca DEBUT

position: AML. passing accuracy 82%, 1 tackle, 1 interception

Espanyol 3 : 2 Mallorca

position: AML. passing accuracy 50%, 1 tackle, 1 interception, 3 dispossessed, 2 turnovers SENT OFF

In case anyone missed it, look at this.

It's his game record. Gives you an idea what he played like in each of his games last season.

Luna played 9 games in left defence for Mallorca. If we take his record over those 9 games, it's not that bad: W2 D2 L5. Mallorca weren't thrashed by more than 3 goals at a time when Luna played,

He had a couple of extremely good games toward the end of the season. 88% and 100% passing accuracy is great. He was also getting some key passes.

This is a low risk, high potential reward signing for Villa. Perhaps we should thank Hutton for the scouting tip!?

Oh no, stat alert.

Any heat maps though? ;)

That is the kind of beard we've been waiting for.

Perhaps the hold up is down to us trying to shave a few quid off the fee?

Have you noticed how VT posters have a razor sharp wit on this thread?

Nope...

:D

Liking this post doesn't express the amount of agreement I have for it.

Noel Fielding is a total douche.

For those moaning about Luna (without seeing him play) because he was third choice at Seville and got relegated..

Seville are chasing for the Champions League and Luna joined Mallorca on loan in January to help them out as they were looking so poor....

Kind of like Spurs when Kyle Walker came here as he was third choice behind Corluka and Hutton when Spurs were chasing Champions League and we were in the bottom 3 in January so we signed him on loan.

For those not wanting Luna because of the above reasons, had we not signed Bent that January too and had gone down would that mean Walker is also not good enough or would it just mean that it was too late for a young attacking fullback to join an awful team in January and somehow save the club?

To be fair Hutton was in the same side that went down to put any blame on Luna would be nuts!

Not a bad comparison. The only difference is that Spurs turned down a big money offer for Walker and started playing him as their right back in their champions league push whilst Sevilla are flogging Luna to us for 1.5m.

I don't think the players are on a par :P

The reason there flogging him is due to the the left back Moreno Perez they currently have who is an understudy to Alba for Spain. Navarro is a long servant who will be happy to remain as a back up, Luna won't as he's 22 and wants to play.

plus the fact unlike teams liek Spurs. Teams in Spain cant keep their young prospects or talented players. Think was last january or summer when all spanish teams except big 2 spent 10 million between them

To be fair though, Michu was sold for £2mil after banging in 17 goals, in a side not too dissimilar to the one Benteke got 21 in last year (finished 15th on 43 points), although I'd argue it's a weaker league top 2 aside, yet we are all actively looking for £30mil for him if he has to go. Now obviously Benteke has a great level of potential than Michu looking at things like age and such, but that's just the case in Spain at the moment clubs are struggling due to the dominance on Tv of Real & Barca, while he may not be world class like recent sales of Mata & Silva for much larger fees, he might just be a bargain.
