bickster Posted August 20, 2012 Moderator Posted August 20, 2012 Paul Lambert is ready to pay £2.5million AND Stephen Warnock to lure Martin Olsson from Blackburn. Aston Villa boss Lambert will rival Stoke in the battle to sign Sweden international left-back Olsson, who has handed in a transfer request at Ewood Park following Rovers' relegation from the Premier League. And Lambert is prepared to throw in Warnock - a Lancashire lad and a Blackburn player from 2007-09 - as part of the deal after telling the former England defender he has no future at Villa. Warnock was left out of Lambert’s squad for Saturday’s opening day defeat at West Ham and has only a year left on his existing deal. The 30-year-old is also interesting Sunderland, now managed by former Villa boss Martin O’Neill, while several Championship clubs have asked to take him on loan for the season. O’Neill needs a specialist left-back following the news that Kieran Richardson wants to leave the north-east club for family reasons. And Warnock would prefer to remain in the Premier League rather than return to Ewood Park, four years after Villa paid Blackburn £8m for him. .... some guff about Makoun Clickety click for some shite from the Mirror Courtesy of diehardvillan in the transfer topic
AshVilla Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Blackburn double swoop please Nzonzi and Olsson They can keep shebby singh though
Wes Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Works for me. Always seems enthusiastic going forward.
Keyblade Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Wouldn't mind him. Goes to sleep a lot and loses his winger at the back post from what I remember but going forward he is very good. And he can trap a football which already makes him better than Warnock.
Morpheus Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Decent and much better than what we have so it would be a reserved yes.
diehardvillan Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Decent link. He would fit into the Lambert style of attacking wing-backs. A lot of Blackburn fans think he is a little suspect defensively. From what I have seen, he looks better than what we have. Sign him up.
jacketspuds Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Yes to Olsson and Nzonzi. Then just a striker. Unless we sell Bent then it's 2 strikers.
KSV Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 with baker and lowton.. we didnt see our fullbacks venture forward which is crucial considering we have no wingers.
Ginko Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Yes to Olsson, but I'm surprised at the love N'Zonzi gets by some people here. I don't think he's all that and he's a dirty player with a bad attitude from the times I've seen him. I think we need more focus on a left-back and a creative midfielder at the moment.
itdoesntmatterwhatthissay Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 No complaints with that, isn't the greatest defensively but is young and has probably learnt something from going down. He's a good left wing alternative too, at that price I'd send a car for him now.
KjParton Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 He's 24 - and likes to get forward, has to be better than Warnock, and probably suits lamberts attacking play! Get him in
HolteEndRob Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 He's rubbish at defending. He should be a left winger, not a left back! If we were playing with wing backs then he'd be a decent option but in a 4-4-2? Not for me.
