For what it's worth I think we are very much in trouble. I do hope hat things will come together in the secondhand of the season and we will be fine, but at the moment you can't dismiss the spectre of relegation with ur current form. Is a big season. I think if we stay up then next season we will be a decent team. Even if we went down I would be wanting to keep lambert. After all, who the hell else would we get?! I just think this season is make or break for the villa. Big three points today. Massive three points.

Yup I agree, a massive, massive win today. We really needed those three points today given our next fixtures where we can walk away with 0 points out of 9 realistically. Now we have that little distance beetween the sides under us and should not fall into the relegation zone abyss before Christmas. I have dreaded the possibility of ending up there and getting extra pressure on our young players, something that could have escalated into panic.

But just look at the table; Sunderland were booed off today because they have started badly this season - but they are one up on us in the standings. Only two teams have scored less than us, being Sunderland and QPR. We need to score more goals and in the January window we badly need a new midfielder to create and contribute goals.

Arsenal aren't all that, Ci£y are misfiring so you never know. ManUre will be very difficult though as they are on fire. Just delighted we got that win yesterday to give the players some confidence and belief.

**** hell. That team

**** hell. That team would get raped. Brutally, repeatedly raped. Over and over again. What formation is that? a 4-6?

While reading that post, the only thought that came into my head was the team getting raped. There is no midfield, this there is no supply to the front six. Also midfield has been our weakness this season with no presence, allowing teams to walk over us. Yesterday doesn't count because MON is also a lightweight midfield specialist.

We need a solid holding midfield, then two more CMs in front of him. We need other teams to know they are not going to just walk through us.

To play no central midfield is utterly laughable and is comparable to McLeish tactics (if we pay attacking players it is a positive sign).

Abject stupidity.

Are you another one that thinks that team is a 4-6 formation aswell?? lol

Think our next few fixtures are key, must build on this performance it's a shame we have United next though.

It's how we do after our next 2-3 fixtures that will determine if we will be in for a long season or not imo.

I think we're in for a long season no matter what

I would be delighted if we can somehow scrape a win against Reading & 2 points from the other 3 no matter how unlikely it appears. The point a game marker is a good indication of how we are doing & so long as we remain within 2 or 3 points of that we have a chance especially considering that thus far we have been kind of gelling whilst coping with injuries to Dunne, Clark, Ireland, Bent (The spine of the team) & now El Ahmadi plus suspensions & the like. I do expect us to improve & we also have the January window fast approaching so if we can stay in touch until then we may yet survive & if we do.. That will be one heck of an achievement in my view with whats gone on at this club over the last 3 seasons.

Staying up will be one heck of an achievement? Think that is the minimum level of acceptance. If the other managers that we've had in recently didnt get us relegated why should it be some kind of achievement this year? Yes the last few yrs haven't been pretty and we have sold numerous players of considerable talent, however, we have still spent close to £20m in the summer and for that kind of investment relegation should be a complete no no.

i think since Lambert came out and said about improving the squad in January, that it is impossible to call whether or not we will survive until February 2nd, when the team till the end of the year is in place, and we have got a big chunk of our hardest games out of the way.

if the rest of November isn't as bad as i am expecting (3 points max) and we get a few good results in December then i will be very optimistic about the next calendar year, we shall see though
