Liverpool are currently over achieving anyway, They are not as good as Chelsea, Spurs, Man City, Arsenal or Man Utd.

Liverpool are the 6th best team in England, their squad is not the best.. Dodgy goalkeepers, horrendous defence, plus Origi, Firminio and Sturridge is simply not a top 4 forward line IMO.

I think they are doing well to push for the top 4 as I really don't think they are anything special to be honest.

I don't particularly disagree but that doesn't detract from my point on motivation.

Why did they sack Rodgers then?

I thought Klopp on his own with his managerial genius was suppose to be the difference for them from just trying to finish in the top 4 post Suarez to seriously challenging for the league.

Oddly, Klopp and Rodgers have identical league records at this point in their respective managerial careers.

I don't think motivation is the problem, I think the way they play suits playing the bigger teams. I think they struggle with the lesser teams due to the way they play, they struggle to break the lesser teams down due to a masssive lack of quality. Then they over commit looking to get the breakthrough and get caught out as the back line including the keeper are monumentally shit. Leicester killed them on the counter attack.

I think that is also a factor but I disagree in that I also think motivation is a problem.

Because they are idiots who still think they are a top 4 club. They are not, they were lucky enough to land Suarez a few years ago. Klopp=Rodgers. Liverpool will never be a force unless they can bag another superstar. They won't get that luck again. Top 6 team at best

Whatever the reason, it's still fun to watch them miss out on the big time over and over again

I think Rodgers is a really good manager tbh, would be quite happy to have him as England manager in the future....

That's not to say he doesn't have faults...the post Suarez season with the signings he made was a poor one but Liverpool aren't the first club to struggle the season after a world class player leaves.

Towards the end at Liverpool he was being judged as much for his post match interviews than what was happening on the pitch. When he was sacked I'm pretty sure they were only a point or two off top 4 which is where they are now.

Given the hype Klopp gets and what he did at Dortmund surely you could think he could lift Liverpool a few places.

Maybe Chelsea is an extreme example but you've seen what Conte has done there...I was expecting similar from Klopp.

FWIW I don't think Rodgers is a bad manager either.

Conte has done well at Chelsea, but these days Liverpool can only ever dream of having a squad as good as Chelsea. Chelsea have top quality all over the park, I think Liverpool have decent midfielders but they are utter bobbins in all other departments

Its hard to find a Liverpool player that is top class for me, they are a hard working team for the main. Coutinho is closest but he really isnt consistent. Mane has explosive pace but a bit headless and not a fan of Firmino really. Lallana was good for a while and has dropped off since he started negotiating that new contract and I signed him for my fantasy football team

as for Sturridge, what a waste of space

I'd say injuries have absolutely ruined him. He's still a fantastic finisher, but he has lost a lot of his pace and explosiveness. I also think genetically he's not able to actually put a shift in. He's a very explosive mover who needs to store that energy up for attacking moves, if he wastes that energy closing defenders down etc he will not be as effective in front of goal/ playing off the last man. His lack of willingness to do this really isn't something Klopp will accommodate as he likes everyone working hard and pressing high. May sound like a silly excuse for him being lazy but I think is plausible.

This fact and his lost pace means he will have to drop down a 'level' from Liverpool IMO. He'll be at a mid table club next season.

Mane is very good. I think Liverpool, will finish top 4 mainly because they only have the league to focus on.

I dont think he is a bad player but he is not as good as he thinks he is and doesnt work hard enough for the team to get away with his shit finishing in big games. I think in the right team he be brilliant but thats not Liverpool

Sturridge is West Ham bound I reckon.

You would have thought that after the signing of Andy Carroll they would be a little more cautious about buying someone with such a poor injury record.

That said, someone like Sturridge would fit perfectly into porno dwarfs remit of trying to sign "a name", so you could well be right.
