bickster Posted August 17, 2012 Moderator Share Posted August 17, 2012 Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has admitted being an admirer of ... and Stoke forward Kenwyne Jones as he looks to further strengthen his squad. But Lambert says it is a case of "wait and see" in terms of whether either will be heading to Villa Park. Villa have been linked strongly with ... and Trinidad and Tobago forward Jones. When asked if interested in the pair, Lambert said: "You are talking about two really good players, different types of players there. "I think a club this size will always be linked with players of that ilk. "I don't think you ever stop looking for players. You have always got to try and improve. "Whether they come in or not, we will have to wait and see but any manager will tell you, you are always going to look for players." clicky
theboyangel
Not overly excited by this link but if it meant Hutton would go the other way it'd be good business. Used to rate Jones but since being at Stoke he hasn't lived upto his £8m transfer fee. With the way Stoke play, he should've been on fire! I suppose it all depends on the fee too... wouldn't want Stoke to recoup too much of their initial transfer fee. Around £3-4m would be a reasonable price (or £2m with Hutton going the other way)
Rodders
sounds like he's just been asked on these two at random, and I hope we don't buy him, if we do 200k fee and a pay as you play contract no more that that
dudevillaisnice
Not a fan of Jones so it's a no from me.. Although I will be delighted if they took Hutton off us.

KHV
Good grief, Kenwyne Jones :?
lp_villa830
Wouldn't mind this, proved at Sunderland that he and Bent can be explosive together and his Aerial ability is defiantly something we lack.
AvfcTheObsession
Interesting link, think it's a player Paul Lambert could really get the best out of, don't see him being too dissimilar to Grant Holt technically. Would be happy enough with this although I'd prefer Defoe if it was a choice of the two.
jim
Another no from me, distinctly average and has a poor goal scoring record. Plus I cannot see Stoke letting him go for peanuts which is all we seem to have.
StanBalaban
If Lambert says yes, and Darren Bent says yes, then it's a definite YES from me!
KHV
Isn't Jones constantly injured?
jim
149 appearances,36 goals in the last 5 years says it all. He isn't suddenly going to come good!
Richard
Agree with lp and the obsession . 2 or 3m and Hutton would be a good deal. Jones and defoe with gabby leaving for 6 or 7 m and I'd be happy with that
Dr_Pangloss
He banged in one goal in twenty last season, what's the going rate for one of those? Free transfer might be decent business OR equivalently swapping him with Hutton, anything else would be bad bad bad.
Morpheus
A definite no from me on this one. If we're looking for a target man then i'd much rather we go for Carroll on loan with a view to buy at the end of the season.

Condimentalist
Lacks quality. I'd rather play Weimann to be honest. Leave alone.
VillaChris
Very hot and cold player. Was anonymous at VP last season although he does tend to score against us quite often from memory. I would question how effective he would be in our team anyway as majority of his goals are headers from whipped in crosses and apart from Albrighton I don't know who else in our team really crosses so unless Lambert has a good wide man up his sleeve aswell, I don't see much logic to this. P3te
works well with bent, and would score more than gabby yes from me, particularly if we can do a player part exchange with them
Dr_Pangloss
What makes you think he would score more than Gabby? He has only done that once in his premier league career (2010-2011 season).
