Didn’t see it but I bet Pope is asking the same thing.

checked the replay and it was just a really good strike from Archer that hit the post and ricocheted off of Pickford's back after he threw himself trying to save it. All in all just a good shot and a save attempt so kinda harsh on Pickford tbf lol

It’s us in 2015 isn’t it ?

The weird thing about that season is that we actually started off with 4 points in our first 4 games. Ok still poor but a far far better rate than we'd ever get close to achieving for the rest of the season.

Everton are the new us 2012-2015.

West Ham are the new us 1994-99 (Europe, relegation fight,  Europe, relegation right, flying start to a season despite losing the main man).

Let us hope we are the new Arsene Wenger's Arsenal - genius manager who transforms the club, sticks around and wins trophy after trophy!

Wasn't our best run around January? Pretty sure we beat Palace, drew with Leicester and then beat someone else when Gabby was hilariously cupping his ear to the crowd for his first goal of the season.

That gave me hope we'd at least go down fighting but then Liverpool demolished us 6-0 or whatever it was and everything just gave up at that point with still about 12 games left.

Yeah you’re right.

Between 12th January and 6th February

Villa 1-0 Palace

Villa 1-1 Leicester

WBA 0-0 Villa

West Ham 2-0 Villa

Villa 2-0 Norwich

Eight points from five games.

Halcyon days.

One point from Us, Wolves, Fulham, and Sheffield United, not exactly the hardest set of fixtures, now got to play Arsenal and Brentford away, might have to wait until the end of the month when they play Luton at home to get their first win in the League which the way they're going isn't guaranteed either.

Don't they have a ridiculously good record v Arsenal at Goodison in recent years? You'd expect Arsenal to comfortably beat them but Arteta always seems to overplay it going to Everton given he was a player there for years.

That's the sort of game where even getting a point would probably spark a decent unbeaten record for a few weeks.
