Broad  was wrong , the cheating won’t be the only thing Carey will be remembered for now :)

last ball as a batsmen a 6 , last ball as a bowler a wicket … good way to go out

Never be done again I would wager, more so in an Ashes final test

A great win and the turnaround spearheaded by two brummies! So happy for Woakes and of course Broad.

Feels like a long time since we lost those first two tests, the players must be absolutely sick that we've not won the entire series.

Now to wait another six months until the next test... no idea who the bowlers will be. No Broad, Woakes won't travel, I think Anderson is likely finished too, no Moeen. Think the batting line up is a lot more solid, still not convinced by Crawley or Duckett but their aggressiveness suits us.

Agree, Crawley and Duckett suit Bazball

This thread is basically therapy for you during the matches isn’t it, so endlessly negative 😂

3% if the time, he's right 100% of the time

Epic series, had absolutely everything.  A proper story book Ashes.

Broady can go out with his head held very high.  Such a shame he's finishing, but what a legacy and stats he leaves with.

Woakes has cemented his place with player of the series.  Brilliant with the ball and some great moments with the bat.

Ali coming in, shredding his fingers, pulling his groin, moving up to 3 and impressing, at 35..!

Cmon you bears!

Zak Crawley beginning to show his potential, hopefully will be the next Chef.

Mark Wood coming in along with Woakes and changing the outlook of the series, his body seemingly holding up too!  More please!

Stokes at Lord's, setting some great, aggressive fields and a couple of great catches.  Keeping calm and a cool head after the second test loss, saying "I'm not changing anything" was brilliant captaincy when his team needed it.

Anderson getting a couple of wickets, better late than never (I really thought he'd announce his retirement today).

Bairstow growing into the series after a horror couple of tests.  His 99* and a couple of great catches later in the series.

Root scoops, drops and catches.  Enough said.

Harry Brook coming along nicely, but very much a 4/5, not a 3!

I hope Duckett's mom leaves the baby gate on his bedroom so he can't get to the next series   I still hate him.

We'll done Australia for coming and giving us a great challenge.  Pat Cummings seems to be a bit burnt out, so hopefully a rest will do him good.

What a bowler Mitch Starc is.. Hazelwood not far behind.

How stubborn were Head and Travis in the middle order.. looking forward to them playing franchise cricket.

Nice story for Mitch Marsh as well.

Smudge being Smudge and doing Smudgy stuff.

**** Carey.

Can't wait for the next series over there. This England team are fearless and you would have to fancy them.

I can't see many of the team being around then as this is a pretty old England team, especially the bowlers.  The younger ones keep breaking down injured.

I don't think any of the bowling attack will go to Australia. Woakes a homer, Wood maybe but he could barely walk by the end of this series. The damage bowling that quick must be doing to his body. He will suffer in later life

England refused to meet the Aussies for drinks yesterday after the game as is tradition

England have come out of this series looking incredibly poor off the pitch. Lots of smugness, lots of whinging and now this. Ironically the things they used to say about the Aussies

No they didn't. Stokes clarified this earlier on twitter. England's post-series wrap-up ran over, presumably because of the two retirements so the Aussies and the England players went out for drinks at a nightclub after.

From that it sounds like England players agreed to meet in a club

Havent heard or seen anything that Aussies joined

So would that not mean that the sensational headlines should instead be "Australia refuse to go for drinks with England"????

Great game at Lords tonight in the 100

Spirit  defending 15 with 5 balls left  … first ball wide results in 3 , followed by a 6  where the fielder caught it but couldn’t offload before going out of bounds …then a 4 , couple of dots and then a 2 to win it with a ball to spare

fine margins

Looks like this is the last iteration of the Hundred. What a terrible shame. Now it’s just a waiting game to see how they manage to butcher the Blast.

he's leaving his role at the ECB , so I'd imagine he meant his final year .... There  was a 4 year TV deal signed in 2021 with Fancode in India  for TV rights  and I'd imagine the penalties for breach would be huge so I'd guess there will be at least one more ?

There's too much cricket - we've just had the Ashes crushed into a 6 week slot because of the Hundred. The only good thing about the hundred really has been the women's version attracting loads of fans. They should maybe keep that, but T20 and the Hundred is too much of the summer spent playing short form cricket.

Having live cricket on normal telly is good, too, rather than siloed away on satellite.

There must be a way to take the best parts of the Hundred and add them into a T20 comp, then have Tests, County Championship and (maybe) ODI/50 over county cricket, like it used to be. The schedule is all over the place at the moment - different every year, you never know when or what's on.

Agree about the women's game, however they're just re-jigging teams that are already there (the ones that play in the Charlotte Edwards cup) so it's actually pointless.

In terms of the "best parts of the Hundred", I'm actually not sure what the best parts are? A bit of extra gaudy branding and giving away free tickets to boost the crowds?

I think the cricket has to be sectioned into mini-seasons, the formats are so different that it impacts the players. They used to mix it all a few years back and it got a bit messy. The Blast should definitely be played at the height of summer, and probably concurrently with the 50 over stuff. T20 on the weekends (Friday to Sunday), 50 over during the week.

Partly that, yes. I'm also thinking of the nature of the spectators - pretty full (larger) venues, with kids and more women in the mix, free to air telly coverage, and sure, marketing that actually tries to reach out to catch new fans of the game. I kind of think that T20 has become a bit of a "grab as much money (much needed, by the counties) as you can", test cricket and International cricket in the UK is very expensive, and County games take place when most people can't actually attend because they're working.

I think I'd have Tests June, July, August and first half of September. T20 July and August, with the semis & final back in September, And the County Championship Late April, May, June, a game or two in July and August and a couple in September. Sack off the hundred (for men). Not sure what I'd do with 50 over cricket, or when to play it.
