BOF Posted November 25, 2009 Moderator Share Posted November 25, 2009 Lawro said the "can not afford to sack him" thing is a myth. In reality, sacked managers never get the full value of their contract. They usually settle for a year to a year and a half so they could afford to sack him if they wanted to. However, the knock-on is that the next guy will want a transfer budget, which is a different thing. Rafa would no doubt want a transfer budget at the next window too but probably a slightly smaller one (he'd be adding to his squad as opposed to gutting it like the new guy might). I think if they really wanted rid, they could do it.

kurtsimonw
I can't see how they can afford to get rid of Rafa, bring in a new manager and give the new guy the money he'll want.

Genie
No they won't sack him in the short term. However, if the finish outside of the CL places his bosses may sanction the sale of Torres which will give Rafa the excuse the quit and then sue them for constructive dismissal. Zatman
How quickly do you reckon 'Arry would jump off the Spurs wagon if offered Liverpool? It wont happen as Liverpool have no money for signings as he is only a chequebook manager and have no way to get extra pocket money for himself :winkold:
choffer Posted November 25, 2009 VT Supporter Share Posted November 25, 2009 If the two owners don't even talk to each other how will they ever agree to sack Benitez? I'd be very surprised if he's sacked. He might walk though at some point.
