Spurs - Arry's gone but we still dislike them...

Glaston, you keep on going about attempting to break the top 4, how can you do that when you only win 5-6 away games a season. We won 10 away games last season and still didn't get that close in the end.

Umm, Spurs ARE actually 4th at the moment. I don't think they'll finish there but I also don't think it's unreasonable for a fan of the club to think, given their current position, that they will do it :? They need to improve their away form and their consistency (and over-reliance on Aaron Lennon) and we need to improve against the weaker teams in the league and then we'll both be in the running. We're both in the race along with Liverpool & Man Citeh. For me at the moment Citeh are the favourites.

Two of those away wins have come at Hull and Pompey, two places we've yet to visit and I'd expect us to win that.

The 2 away wins I cited (from our last 8 away games) were at Blackburn (not Hull) and Pompey ... not that it especially matters.

As far as the race for 4th is concerned, Spurs are still well in it. How can we succeed in finishing 4th? The answer is obviously by winning a large proportion of our remaining games, whether home or away. Will we do that? Who yet knows, but I certainly haven't written off our chances ... far from it.

For example, City may have games in hand, but we beat them 3 - 0 at home and I wouldn't be so surprised if we go to Eastlands and beat them again. And Villa come to us this weekend, as you know.

It's all up for grabs and I'm reasonably content with the position that Spurs are in right now.

It will be close for 4th sopt between the Spurs and the 3 below them are in the running and also Everton who always finish dtrongly.

Once we dont go on a run like last season and are in contention by the start of April we should be happy as after that anything can happen

You wont beat them at Eastlands. They'll bend you over and rape you like a bitch.

City will finish 4th. The others will be far too close to call. But City I reckon will end up a good 7 points + clear in 4th.

I dunno. Citeh against Everton were pants. It's going to be very close, but I certainly wouldn't see whoever takes it being more than a couple of points infront.

When it comes to the final 6-7 games, only then will any favourite emerge imo .

What I mean by that.. is that every time a team gets the opportunity to take 4th spot, or cement their place there, they bottle it.

I think this will go on.. and, IMO, the team who finish 4th will simply be the team who bottled it the least.

Even if we lose to Spurs if we win our game in hand we'll be right up with them again. they can pull 6-7 points away for all I care as I've seen their run in. Liverpool I think we can at least match between now and the end.

Its just Citeh that are the issue, they're beating the poor sides in first gear and have games in hand that could see them pull away and we'll probably have to beat them and hope for further slip ups to get above them by the end of it all

I can't see anyone catching Man City either.

They have the squad depth to deal with any fixture congestion, but aren't in Europe anyway.. have got rid of the "deadwood" that is £32m Robinho, and have Patrick Viera to come back. They have a good run of games and are playing with real confidence right now, whereas Liverpool obviously more than a little nervous, Spurs have hit a bit of a scoring drought and are struggling with Lennon, we haven't been taking our chances, and Birmingham are Birmingham.

Spurs are second favourites for me though, I think our lack of goals will see us miss out.

I just really really hope Liverpool don't get there. If they get CL again they'll probably hang on to key players, get a new investor, get rid of the Fat Spanish Waiter and get back on track. Lack of CL could kill them. I want to see Liverpool sink to mid table obscurity to make up for all their years bragging and delusion.

Woodgate might have to quit football

No sympathy for Spurs but I do feel sorry for Woody. An absolute top class defender on his day. We can be glad they can't regularly use King & Woody at the back. Long live captain Dawson

Spurs defender Jonathan Woodgate fears he may have to quit football.

Woodgate is battling to overcome a long-term groin injury that has restricted him to only three Premier League games this season.

And the 29-year-old is worried he will never recover his fitness, despite a series of operations and specialist treatment in America.

Spurs medical staff are baffled by the former England man’s injury and are running out of ideas on a cure.

Woodgate is still working to a current medical plan that has him pencilled in for a return date before the end of the season.

But the injury is not responding and there is real concern the stopper may have to retire.

A source close to the player revealed: “He is really down at the moment. He has tried everything and nothing seems to be working.

“He has already thought about the possibility of hanging up his boots although he is trying to keep his hopes up about getting fit again.”

His Spurs boss Harry Redknapp admits Woodgate is facing do-or-die time in his bid to return to action.

He recently said: “He went to see someone who he really believes in, who got him fit before. You have to take that chance.

“Hopefully he’ll come back at the end of the month and feels it has worked. If he has then he’ll be back playing, if it hasn’t worked we’re struggling a bit with it.”

The last of Woodgate’s three outings this term was in the 9-1 win over Wigan on November 22.

Redknapp bought in Younes Kaboul from Portsmouth over the weekend to add more cover to his defence.

He paid £5m to bring Kaboul in to compete with Michael Dawson, Sebastian Bassong and Ledley King at the back in case Woodgate is forced to call time on his career.

Woodgate is was an outstanding CB in his Leeds days but he has been limping (no pun intended) along for years, a great shame for him but no real surprise. I have more sympathy though for those who have made less in the game than him or who lose their careers almost before they begin.

All that said Spurs loss is no concern of mine, they are a rival of ours so I see it as good news. That's football.
