I think it looks really good. it strikes me as the Casino Royale of X Men/Wolverine movies. Forget all the flashy stuff, strip it back, make it darker and grittier and give it a good story. Whilst one of our own mutual favourite films comes from that era (12 Angry Men), I must admit I have a massive gap in my knowledge of films from back then. Even the better known ones. Not because I'm against them per se, because I'm not. Just that they're not available all that often, and I've enough of a backlog to get through from modern times. Saw Logan last night, it's not only the best X-Men film by miles, I think it may be up there with the best superhero movie of all time, though admittedly it's not really a superhero movie, more a really good movie with superheroes in it. Agree with... Spoiler ...X-24 being by far the worst part of the film, but it's not terrible. The whole parallel with Logan fighting himself both internally and externally was a bit on the nose, but I can forgive it. The similarities between this film and The Last of Us were quite apparent for me, and it was a much better movie because of them. Jackman even looks like Joel. A great movie and the Wolverine film that needed to be made whilst Jackman is still able. Can't wait to see it again. To say the characters are wafer thin would be doing a disservice to wafers. Apart from John C Reilly (who at least gets a little bit of backstory) you literally do not give a flying **** about any of them because they are all so blandly drawn with only the slightest of characteristics. None of that would matter as much (this is a monster movie after all) if the rest of the movie wasn't so cut and paste. The story offers up nothing new and you can see where every single action sequence is going to go and there wasn't a single bit of originality in any of the set pieces. There's also the matter of excruciatingly bad dialogue interspersed with awful attempts at humour which fail every single time. I genuinely couldn't wait for it to end.
