Xela
Considering the vast amount of money Ronaldo has given to charity over the years I don't think he would be deliberately evaded tax. More likely his accountants have messed up.

May not be an elaborate scheme by the players/Jose, but perhaps their financial advice wasn't the cleanest... Both these clubs should be relegated and banned from being in the champions league. Both clubs are corrupt as ****, will never happen though

Often give plenty to charity, but find a whole load of tax loopholes. Not saying that Ronaldo/Messi/Mourinho/Modric's agent/Neymar/Jeff are deliberately avoiding paying tax, but I wouldn't be too surprised if they knew their accountants were "saving as much as possible" etc.
sne
1 year in prison (probation of course) and £2m in fines for Di Maria for his tax fraud. Think it's a novel way for the Spanish authorities to get themselves our of their financial mess. Indict all wealthy foreigners!!!

PaulC
We had the Beckham law when the country was in the midst of an economic boom but since 2010 the beckham law was scrapped for salaries over 600,000 eu and tax inspectors have begun to wise up to the use of complex financial operations using offshore shell companies to get around tax laws so probably going to be a lot more they will go after. Its no excuse for players not knowing about what was going on, they have benifited. from it, but as always whilst the ordinary guy would spend time they wont. So I cant feel sorry for any of them. sne
It never ends does it? Quote Lionel Messi's charity created a framework to hide income, which consequently cannot be confirmed as having been spent on philanthropic projects. As.com ACTUALIZADO: 26 June 2017 11:16h CEST Lionel Messi’s financial situation has become increasingly murky following claims that his charitable organisation has hidden tens of millions of euros from the authorities. Messi Foundation spending can't be verified According to Spanish newspaper ABC on Monday, the Leo Messi Foundation “has created a framework to hide millions of euros of income generated from sponsors that has not been declared and, as such, it can’t be confirmed that it has been spent on social projects to help children with problems.” ABC continue that the Foundation “has masked between 2007 and 2015 a large part of its income.” At least ten million euros has not been declared to the Spanish or Argentine authorities. ABC insinuates that the Foundation has been used as an “umbrella” to cover the Messi family’s private businesses. Full screen ABC: The Leo Messi Foundation hid tens of millions of euros LLUIS GENE (AFP) ABC: Leo Messi Foundation operational for 6 years before registration ABC has created a time-line of the Messi Foundation. It states that the framework in question was put in place in 2007, when the Foundation started operating in Barcelona. In May 2009, Messi and his father, Jorge Horacio, created a sub-office in Rosario, Argentina. At that point, the parent NGO (Non-governmental organisation) had not been registered with the authorities in Spain, which was obligatory. ABC states that the Spanish organisation was eventually registered in Barcelona in 2013, after six years of operation. Yet The Leo Messi Foundation was not only operational in Spain. The sub-office in Rosario, Messi’s home city, was signing contracts in the name of the NGO in Argentina, and others in the name of the NGO in Spain, without that income being declared. As a result, the Argentine tax authorities deregistered the Rosario-based NGO, according to databases consulted by ABC. The reason for the deregistration was that the entity had not presented its accounts for three consecutive years. This development comes after Messi was sentenced a 21-month prison sentence for tax fraud in 2016. The sentence was suspended, and swapped for a fine in June 2017. http://en.as.com/en/2017/06/26/football/1498464359_923447.html No idea if any of it is true, and it sure doesn't help having the Catalan media and the Madrid based media battling it out trying to make life hard for Real and Barca. But a lot of these footballers really should split from their advisors, lawyers, agents, brothers and dads.
PaulC
Barcelona resign Deulofeu. A player not good enough to make the Everton side regularly. While the top English clubs are linked with the best young talent in Europe. The balance of power from La Liga to Premier League is coming
sne
They're only signing him because they got a buy back clause. They sign him on the cheap and will sell him again for twice what they payed. Same as Real did with Morata. Standard stuff. Also had a very good loan spell at Milan
PaulC
Still think Barcelona are going to struggle unless they can bring in some big name players. Think Real Madrid could dominate for a while there

Think Real Madrid could dominate for a while there It's the give and take with the Barcelona La Masia academy system and the way they play. It is hard to integrate players into Barca who are not schooled there. Many players schooled there also have a hard time learning to play in other systems. Obviously there are exceptions, and exceptional players will perform either way. They are having big problems building a squad, and the quality of players coming out of La Masia have had a slight dip in quality for a few seasons.
villa4europe
so far they've signed marlon who was there on loan last season and played 2 games and deulofeu they've got squad issues and no youth as for transfers, hard to tell because none of them have done anything yet really, villarreal signing enes unal and semedo are probably the best 2 bits of business across europe ze germans have done some business but i think they start 1st, AC milan are spending but after that real madrid, atletico, juve (signed 2 players they had fees agreed with as part of the loan agreement) PSG done nothing, that said arsenal and chelsea havent paid a penny for anyone yet either also hard to know who will be the biggest transfer of this summer (not just in terms of fees) dybala or if he leaves then lewandowski, lets see where they go
VillaChris
They desperately need some midfielders. Verrati would be a great signing if they pull that off, Paulinho less so.
sne
I imagine Thiago Alcantara is right at the top of their list of targets, but Bayern probably don't wan't to sell. And no idea if Thiago want's to move back. Hope they don't get Verratti.
steve1986
Does anyone know or have any contacts in Spain who could get tickets for the Super Cup final in either Madrid or Barcelona? sne
Once again I'm thankful I decided to not watch the El Clasico encounter in the Super Cup. Suarez cheating and diving to get a penalty, Ronaldo petulantly pushing the ref after diving for a penalty. 10 yellow cards and 1 red. So many talented players but it always turn into Trump vs Kim Jong Un. Can't bother to watch it anymore, sadly.
