Just makes it easier for the player and is a good way to make him feel more comfortable in his first official "job" as a Villa employee. Hopefully a sign that we are a bit better prepared for helping players settle into England, Birmingham and the club. Obviously, there is a pretty big Spanish network at the club now (and am not sure how well they all speak English) so maybe this is the exception rather than the rule? But I suspect that the off-field staff are much more aware of the challenges coming to a new country and so are in a better position to ensure that the right support is available to all players. It is easy to forget just how much stuff you need to do when moving to a new country and so having someone available to help with that (especially if English isn't your first language and you are not familiar with "obvious" things that you need to do) can go a long way to helping players (and also their wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, kids, etc) settle quickly. Gregg Evans talked about this aspect in particular in the latest 1874 podcast. "From speaking to lots of people across the league, Villa are considered to have one of the strongest player care departments around." Talks in particular about how they help not only the new players and their families settle in, but also the new coaching staff. Their ethos being that any concern/worry that a player might have could negatively affect their performance - so by taking care of all their concerns, such as where their kids are going to go to school, or getting a UK SIM card, - by dealing with those worries that should minimise any impact about settling in to a new country/new team. Just great to hear that our club take this area seriously, and as others have mentioned, we have a strong history in this area. It's a good listen, about 5/6 minutes in to the 1874 episode aired yesterday. 6

Jas10
Well worth a listen, all about Pau. Should allay any fears/concerns too… from someone who’s watched him consistently. He is a major signing for us.
AvfcRigo82
What an absolute signing!! To have signed one of Europe's most promising defenders for the daft amount of money we paid for him, what a move by Unai, Monchi and the club to have pulled this off. Fantastic. Personally, I have wanted us to sign this guy for a few years now but we've never been in a position for him to have even looked at us. And now, he's in a Villa shirt. Phenomenal. Well done Villa.
