And the humblest ... 😉

We have much not to be humble about! ;) As the chant goes, "We're by far the greatest team the world's ever seen" and hopefully we are now on the road to winning further trophies, that will stop opposition fan's singing "You weren't even born", when we ask them "Have you won the European Cup?". As someone who was born and was actually there, I look forward to the day when all of us fans are in that happy position.  As FLVillan has said, every team in the midlands region (west and east) does have bitterness/jealousy towards us, let's give them more to be bitter and jealous about. :D

So, time for the annual "date of first signing" competition (which we might not have done before).

Given we're off to the US towards the end of July and we're playing at Walsall on 15th, I'd have thought we'd be back in training at some point reasonably early in July - I reckon we'd want to take signings with us to the US - so I'm going with....

18th June.

7th July.

Reckon we will struggle to get who we want and it will be a relatively dull window. Still, happy thoughts!

I don’t think you are in the minority it’s just people have doubts if he will be good enough to be a starter.

I don’t think people are saying he isn’t good enough for the bench

I think fans often make the mistake of assuming a new player will come here and be that same player here. If Villa/Emery sign a new player, it will be primarily because they believe they can turn that player into what they want rather than signing him to play exactly the same as they do/did at their previous club.

We will play differently, with different team-mates, different manager, different coaches, etc ...... all signings are really based on potential rather than how good they are with their current team.

Think we will see movement at the start of July, especially with some European leagues finishing later than us.

We signed the likes of Bouba and Diego at the end of May last year. Just be patient.

You do know that the 18th of June isn’t a Wednesday don’t you?

We've been linked to him before, there was a lot of buzz around him before he went to atalanta, not heard much of him since

Finished off scoring a hat-trick at the weekend to get them 5th...

That said I can't say he's ever impressed me that much when he's played for the Netherlands.

Atalanta is very much the Italian version of Brighton, anyone who plays advanced for them has licence to attack and posts ridiculous stats. Lookman in the end finished up with 13 league goals and quite a few assists yet we know from his years in the premier league he's a decent wide attacker but no more than that.

Zapata was also hitting 20 + regularly years back after many years of being a journeyman striker.

Interested actually how Hojlund does at Man. United.

Being in Rotterdam, 41 years on, still ranks as the most memorable day of my life.  Just don't tell the wife that!

The Leicester star ended the 2020/21 season having completed the third most progressive passes in the division and the 10th most through balls in Europe's top five leagues. He also recorded the seventh most touches and ninth most goal-creating actions of all players in the Premier League.

Tielemans contested the sixth most tackles and won the 10th most tackles in the league that season as Leicester finished in fifth-place for the second year in a row. In 2021/22, the Foxes finished in eighth - four points behind West Ham who qualified for the Europa Conference League - with Tielemans once again proving crucial to their best moments of the campaign.

After opting to remain at the club last summer, he struggled in an under-performing Leicester side who were relegated on the final day of the season. Despite not living up to his own high standards, Tielemans still performed well against fellow Premier League midfielders.

Of all midfielders in the English top-flight, he completed the eighth most passes into the final third and 181 progressive passes, which is 33 more than Douglas Luiz, who led the way for Villa. His xA (expected assists) value was 3.3, which is the same as John McGinn's, while he made exactly the same number of tackles as the Scot (66), but won a greater share of his ground duels.

Only Arsenal's Thomas Partey recorded a better successful take-on rate than Tielemans last season, with the Belgium international completing 74 per cent of his take-ons. McGinn completed 64 per cent of his last term, while only Thiago has recorded a lower tackled during take-ons percentage than Tielemans of all midfielders.

Tielemans also won 68 per cent of his aerial duels last season, which is a figure only bettered by Man City's Rodri, when compared to all Premier League midfielders.

Yet were now at the end of the 2023 season and he's not put up anywhere near these numbers since or improved.

He's gone backwards and the effort he put in for Leicester last season when they were fighting relegation was shameful.

If he's so good and free why are there not a queue of other clubs interested?

Media seem to be wanting to sell Christian Pulisic to us. Honestly can't say he ever left any impression, good or bad when I watched him but he's still pretty highly rated right?

Never really been that productive but he's also mostly been a rotation player. Still only 24 and Chelsea need to shed some (a lot of) players.

On a separate note what's happening with Giovanni Reyna? Is he on a move or has his parents made him a harder sell.
