mjmooney Posted January 20, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted January 20, 2023 Back in the days of the Villa email list, one of the subscribers was a certain club employee (who shall remain nameless). I was having an off-list email correspondence with another listmember, in which I described said employee in, shall we say, less than flattering terms. In the classic fashion, I mistakenly pressed 'reply to all'. Oops. Well, at least he found out what some of us thought of him...

Popular Post icouldtelltheworld
Not quite the same, but once managed to pocket-Tweet a photo of my brand new, very expensive Mercedes straight after a particularly bad day at the office. Didn't go down well! 2
Popular Post leemond2008
My bosses name was Randip, I had a good result on a claim that I was dealing with and made a big saving. I sent her an Email and started it off with "Fo shizzle Randizzle" and then continued the email as normal, she forwarded it to every manager in the department, I thought it was hilarious she was absolutely **** mortified. I also mistyped someone who's surname was Hunt as word removed and it turned out to be a massive complaint file that haunted me for about 9 months and I couldn't change the original note on the file
Popular Post sidcow Posted January 21, 2023 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted January 21, 2023 (edited) My mate is a Wolves fan. We always have a heavy drinking session before Villa Wolves games. We met at 8.00am in The Briar Rose before a game at Villa Park. We drank solidly before moving to The Bartons Arms for a few before the game. Frankly I'm astonished that I was allowed into the ground. We lost. On the way home I sent to my mate a large collection of increasingly offensive text messages. It cumulated in a message reading "you **** cheating bunch of words removed. Just **** off you **** cheating **** bastard clearings in the woods. My mates name was Mark. My mother in law was a god fearing, Church going, swearing hating Sunday School teacher. Next day I get a text from her asking" Who is a cheating bunch of whatsits?" Her name was Marie and in my phone address book she is right next to Mark. Oh my god, I was petrified. I spent the next 2 days wondering what the hell to do, asking friends how to handle it. Eventually following general consensus I called her and apologised profusely saying it was a message meant for someone else. She said that's exactly what (my wife) had said which was an even bigger dagger in my heart. Mrs Sidcow has not once mentioned this to me though I know she is aware I sent a highly offensive message to her Mother. I'm waiting to this day for that argument where she throws this in my face. Popular Post one_ian_taylor Posted January 21, 2023 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted January 21, 2023 Friend's dad runs his own company. One year hadn't been so good, so the end of year Christmas message was slightly sterner than usual, telling people to enjoy the break, but also that overall performance wasn't good enough and that they needed to up their game. Signed off the email, went away for a couple of weeks. Discovered on return that "regards" had been mistyped with a t in place if the g, and a lot of people were really not very happy.
Popular Post May-Z
Back in my training year I was paired with a lad who ended up being a dick. A proper annoying dick who I grew to loathe with a passion. I didn't let him know that though and I don't think he cottoned on. We had to get a busy bus together so often sat next to each other. One day I was texting my missus about how much of a nob he was and how it was funny that he was moaning about other being annoying for the same reasons that made him insufferable. WelI, at least I thought it was to my missus...I sent it straight to his number instead. He looked at me, I looked at him, then he got up and move to the other end of the bus. Awkward last couple of months training after that...but probably for the best. 4

Mark Albrighton Posted January 21, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted January 21, 2023 I haven’t sent one in error. However, in my first job there was a trial period where new starters had to meet certain standards to be a permanent member of the team. A colleague (now friend of mine) hadn’t met this standard and his trial period was being extended. We found this out as everyone else in the team received an e-mail telling us this which was intended for various line managers. At the time of this e-mail, my friend was in a team training session, so essentially everyone else knew and he was in the dark. Apologies were made, etc etc… Incidentally, he was there for a couple of years and eventually handed his notice in. On his last day, he jumped on someone else’s computer and sent a joke internal e-mail to various staff as that person. My mate was escorted off the premises for that one. Not an e-mail, but at another job my line manager asked me to type out this hand written table which was essentially different options for the organisation to save money. This was something her line manager had written out. About half way down the table the cessation of my role was listed as a possible way of saving money. My line manager came back into my office after about 5 minutes - “Erm, could I have that back?”. “I’ve already seen it.” “Ok, erm…well, just hold on.” A few minutes later her line manager sheepishly comes in and apologises, just exploring different options, etc etc. FWIW I didn’t lose my job. How much of that was due to that awkward encounter, I’ll never know. 1
sidcow Posted January 21, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted January 21, 2023 Not me but my boss. The PA of one of our senior managers in London, a seriously attractive young Asian lady was getting married to someone in Wolverhampton so moved up here with the intention of keeping her job working remotely. Our office had recently had a couple of redundancies so the atmosphere wasn't exactly brilliant at the time. Anyway, this girl didn't seem to have any work to do so just spent most of the day just sat there, doing her nails, quite frequently leaning back in her chair reading a book. She never once asked if there was anything she could do to help out. People got annoyed and moaned to my boss. He sent a long email to her boss detailing how inappropriate it was, ending up saying "even as I look over at her now she's reading her book again" He hit send and and immediately heard her email notification ping as he received an out of office from her boss saying his PA would review his Emails. She looked up at him, put her book in her bag and walked out of the office never to be seen again. 1
Talldarkandransome
I've received a text not meant for me, from my sister during a particularly stressful time whilst looking after my parents. I was having to make some very difficult decisions with little or no feedback. After one big decision was made I had messaged her to say what I'd decided to do. A little bit later I was driving with the other half to run some errands for folks and my phone pinged, I told the missus to open and read it. She said, oh its from your sister and it starts MY BASTARD BROTHER obviously it wasn't meant for me, I was seething and almost crashed the car. There is a back story to this which made it unforgiveable for a very long time 1

bannedfromHandV
I did it at work many moons ago in one of my first office jobs. We had one of the Account Managers visiting us (did so probably once a month or so) and he was sat amongst all us lowly minions and was going on about a holiday he’d just got back from. I sent an email to my mate sat directly opposite me saying something like ‘yeah yeah bore off Martin, no one gives a shit about your holiday’ and of course proceeded to then send it to Martin and not my matey opposite. Cue panic attack and a fumbled attempt to make it seem like I’d intended to send it to him as a joke. Lesson learned tho, always double check who I’m sending to every time since.

Talldarkandransome
On a lighter note, I've slagged people off to their faces without knowing who they were. (I've done that a few times). I've messaged a lady slating another lady but sent it to the lady I was slating. My foot has spent most of its life in my mouth and its too late to change that now
mottaloo
Microsoft Teams is deadly for slagging off folk especially when you have multiple chats ongoing as I've found to my misfortune; luckily it wasn't a big insult neither was bad language used so I just about blagged it to the person concerned as bantz but I learned my lesson.
