Watching a programme about her now.

No doubt everyone has known this for nearly 40 years, but I had no idea that Mark Knopfler wrote private dancer or that Jeff Beck is on guitar for it.

I’m not particularly knowledgeable on her work, but just from cultural osmosis it’s clear she’s had an incredibly notable and successful career. Probably alongside Madonna, one of the first signers I knew of as a kid. If you asked me in the 90’s to name a female singer in a word association style game, a very strong chance I’d say Tina Turner.

First heard of her in about 1964 when the group I was in supported The Spencer Davis Group at The Casino Club in Walsall (my worst ever musical experience !!). They played "I Think It's Gonna Work Out Fine", which I had never heard before. Muff Winwood was very chatty and told us they had got a load of LP's from America and this number was amongst them. Didn't know anything about the domestic abuse back then. NB - Steve Winwood did NOT speak to us; he was too busy fighting off the girls :)

With all the Tina Turner and Rolf Harris death news I completely missed that Ray Stevenson had died. That's a real shock. :(
