  1. 1. Who is your pick for new Villa boss?

Recommended Posts

Just had a look at some of his setups in his first season with Arsenal, the last 5 games of the 18/19 season:

  • Valencia: 3412
  • Brighton: 4312
  • Valencia: 3412
  • Burnley: 4231
  • Chelsea: 3412

Seems to change it quite a bit depending on the opposition, and often went 3 at the back despite it being said he was mainly 4231 with Arsenal.

Just scanned the last few pages.... is it Emery then? What's that based on... just the betting odds?

ITK's claiming it's Emery and odds tumbling today. The two are most likely connected but who knows.

Not really any links to Emery and Villa in the media.

Thanks, I'll pay no attention again then.

What even more than Champions League winner Roberto di Matteo?

I'd say so, everyone knew he just turned up there to take the glory.

I can't even remember what job he had before that.

Emery is one hell of a risky and expensive appointment!

Emery is a good choice for Villa:
PL Experience ✅
Won Trophies ✅
Managed big clubs and big players  ✅
Can work without a big transfer budget ✅
Can get results against so the called bigger teams ✅
Tactically flexible and plays to the strengths of the players✅

Hopefully sticks with the 4-3-2-1 he used regularly at Sevilla

It’s a big fat YES from me…

We really are a strange lot aren’t we?

Turning our noses up at top players and managers and often rating shite ones… like Sean f***ing Dyche!

I find it difficult to pay too much credence to messi11’s opinions too, especially after the Bentancur debacle (would have loved him here!). But he does come out with some good and hilarious stuff at time, very back and forth with his views though 🤣

We often give the impression we don’t have much of a clue what we’re talking about at times…

Maybe we forget where we are “at” and how little we have really achieved or how rarely we have shown any tangible ambition or had major success… the best we have done since getting promoted is an 11th placed finish… otherwise we’ve been languishing or struggling to even stay afloat in the division.

This would be a major coup and opportunity for us… if we can get into Europe and start competing for trophies, I’m sure we’d all be more than delighted 🤣

I, for one, am glad to see that we are actually showing some intent as a club now because the last appointment was a huge mistake and pathetic gamble that turned out to be a disaster… we haven’t had many good managers to be frank… the best one for a while was Deano and he wasn’t exactly a big name…

It’s time to make strides…

People will be out criticising as didnt have a famous career or a winning mentality 20 years ago as a player 😛

Don't think too many have rated Dyche, in fairness.

More just using as an extreme version of how the Villa can let you down.

As an aside: For a mad moment yesterday I wondered if the massive upturn in form was because the players were threatened with Dyche or similar.

I'd run through brick walls as well, to avoid that possibility.
