The Game's Good

I think it's great that people like Pogba, Grealish, Ronaldo etc can earn 300k a week and wear balanciaga gear on their super yachts in Bahamas!

Am I doing ok in this thread?

Inspired by a contrary post in "The Game's Gone" thread, I figured it would be nice to have a more upbeat version where the positive things in the world of football can be posted.

I went back 10 pages /6 months and didn't find an equivalent topic, and hopefully there's enough good in the modern game to make this thread worthwhile.

I'll start with the post that inspired it (credit @Tom13

Ezequiel Unsain?

He must be crazy.

You're looking for the word gone, not good.

"Manchester City star Jack Grealish made a disabled super fan's day by taking time to sign her club shirts before a game."

Repost from a few months back but good litmus test for the thread.

There was a follow up to that too, he got her family a corporate box for a game and went to see them after, the dad was really complimentary about him

The game isn’t good, that lad is a supporter not a footballer/staff. He’s a normal like us.

Jack Grealish earns in a single week (basic wage) what I make in 15 years. He makes in 3 weeks what I will earn over my whole working career (45 years approx).

Jaden PB earns in one month more than my annual salary.

They kick a ball around a field. I rehab mental health patients to get them used to going back into the community after being unwell in hospital.

YaY fOoTbAlL!!!!!!!

Am I doing this right?

You're right about a significant element of the game, definitely. Throw in FIFA corruption, Super League Shady behind the scenes deals, unfair playing field FFP, terrible referees,  VAR, dodgy state owners, and everything else that's wrong and yes,  the game is not good.

But this is a topic for things that are good in it, none of that crap.

Alas, given its been two days and the thread is already disappearing, I feel like I may have been a bit optimistic in thinking there was enough good in the game to warrant a thread about it.

Sorry chap, I may have contributed to that. My point being, it wasn’t the game that was good in that video, it was the little boy from the crowd who was good. I’m just being a miserable word removed.

Yes, yes you are 😉

Arguably, a lot of the things that go into the games gone thread aren't exactly the game itself. And quite often things fans do warrant appearing in that thread and end up in it.

The blues thread is offering some light relief if you want a smile.

The Norwegian league is quite good to follow right now. The money isn’t too big, ticket prices are fair, no VAR (yet) and it’s not too commercialised. And, little by little the standard on the pitch is improving, and the atmosphere is pretty f***ing excellent for big games. Lots of good ultras culture.

Had the big derby game today, my Vålerenga vs. the nasty yellow disease that is Lillestrøm. Sold out, both ends packed and rocking an hour before kick off, tifos and plenty of pyro, and a resounding 3-1 win with some sublime goals. Football is good.

Bodo Glimt have about 30 sponsors on the jersey. It's as commercialised as you can get 😉
