Are you kidding? An 18 year old Paraguayan kid vs a16 year old Scottish kid but it’s not the same.

Can’t see that the Paraguayan league is that good after doing some research on it just

I wouldnt say its better quality but its certainly a lot rougher for a teenager ti start weekly and score goals

But on the same note, how will that translate to English football, will he settle in this country whereas Rory smashing the scoring charts and from the UK.  I think the risk profile is far less

In fairness I never trust these underage scoring records though. Not writing Wilson off but

Wasnt Delfouneso breaking records all sorts of Villa records and all the young Liverpool strikers that smashed the Robbie Fowler record that came to nothing or Bojan would be better than Messi

and that kid would’ve been 17 at the start of last season and you don’t think Rory Wilson banging in 49 goals at 16 at Youth in Scotland if had been in Paraguay instead doing the same thing would be getting games there given the league is lower quality? Of course he would.  That’s why they can be compared, not much age difference, massive talent but we got ours very cheap whereas Brighton didn’t.

Oh I agree but it’s also the same for young foreign players coming to these shores and never making the grade because they can’t settle, can’t play the style or pace blah blah.

Our risk looks like £350k, Brightons risk looks like £9m.

Either, both or neither could make it, at this stage it’s hard to judge on either.  Both have massive potential but ours is much less risk and less outlay.

I meant was weaker than England but the Paraguayan league is probably on the same level as the Scottish league and he has won international caps already playing in World Cup qualifiers

I think Wilson would have been sent on loan to Dunfermiline or something like that if stayed at Rangers. Youth players dont break through so easy at the Old Firm. Patterson barely played

I agree with the above.  I think my point originally was that the two kids are comparable and that for the money we spent compared to Brighton I think we have a better deal.  Even if you think we don’t (not saying you do).

The original poster said he wants the Villa to deals like Brighton, my reply was that are kinda are but I think better, less risk, less cost but still with massive potential but because he isn’t a cost of X millions and from a South American League it doesn’t look as sexy.

I would like to see Archer given a fair chance in pre-season to prove he’s good enough as 3rd choice striker rather than sending him on loan again.

I'd go further and tell him the striker spot in up for grabs and reputation doesn't come into it, if he performs in pre-season then he has a fair chance of starting the season.  Same for Ollie and Ings.

Last season

Gana PSG

Veretout Roma

Adama Traore loan at Barcelona

Think them signings actually weren't the problem. Even Ayew played for a team that finished above us and Amavi will be playing European football next season

I thought all those players were underrated on here at the time (same with some of our players now) and am not at all surprised by their subsequent success but I think your post could also be used as an example of how even signing really really good players doesn’t work IF you sign them too early. Fine if you plan to loan them out and let them develop, not if they’re all going into the team.

World class, who?

Well I would guess he means the third most expensive player of all time and the new starting midfielder for the world champions.

For the third it’s either a little exaggeration on Diego Carlos, he knows something about this kid from Rangers or he absolutely loves Robin Olsen.
