Darren Randolph

Back up keeper at West Ham signing on loan for rest of the season apparently.

Ex SHA and played for ROI many times.

Apologies if this has been covered in transfer thread but didn't see his thread anywhere.

Edit: Seems a bit odd if we go out tonight as we'll just have the prem games but guess Gerrard dosen't think Steer is up to it and he could well move on this window.

Don’t know much about him - is he any better than Steer?

He played a bit for West Ham a few years back when Fabianski was out for a few months with shoulder injury.

He dosen't look the most athletic keeper with his build but IIRC he did fine and West Ham's stats were pretty defence at the back with him in goal (think it was when they were battling relegation).

50 caps for ROI so Zat and other Irish lads on here can fill in more of the gaps on his strengths and weaknesses.

In likelihood he'll probably never play a game for us unless we sign him permanently.

He isn't anything special but is decent all around. His passing isnt too bad

Last time he played for Boro vs Villa he had a nightmare

Does anyone watch football besides Villa?  FFS, he's a backup keeper...  Not supposed to be a worldie...

He was one of the best keepers in the Championship when he was at Boro a few years back.  Big upgrade on Steer and it's a loan...  More good business that doesn't really cost us much.

Gregg Heavans right, said we wanted a backup keeper to allow us to send Marschall and SInisalo out on loan. If Randolph is an upgrade on Steer then that will do, I remember we were linked to him when we were in the Championship.

He has about 40 Premier League appearances and played at Euro 2016. Definitely a squad upgrade and a 6 month loan

What will happen to Steer, or is this guy third choice?

Think Jed should just move on now. Another who'll be fondly remembered for his part in our promotion and unlucky with injuries since.

Will have no problem finding a decent championship club.

The world of the reserve goalkeeper fascinates me. You help out in training, celebrate when the team wins things, and plan your career as a coach.

Mark Bunn: 172 career appearances. Stuart Taylor: 75 career appearances. It's an odd existence.

Get a nice salary. If get a top 6 club you get to travel Europe like Rob Green

Dream job

Needs to leave.  He isn't anywhere near good enough.  Everyone forgot how average he was in the Championship because of his playoff semifinal performance.  Been completely out of his depth in his Premier League appearances.
