Strange to see our communications director tweeting that. Wouldn’t he be better off just saying nothing?

Or the simple explanation is the answer ie go home we aren’t doing any more.

This forum believes some nobody on Twitter but not the clubs communications director.

If the communication director is lying it’s the one job where it tarnishes anything he says in the future doesn’t it, which would be silly given his position.

Personally I don't think it does apply to them in the same way because the wealth we are talking about is so vast they can continuously chuck billions and billions at it.

On an individual buying level there may not be a big difference if we're competing for one player, but they could promise that player they can make 10 more massive signing in that window.

Lets not forget most of Abramavoich's money went into Chelsea when it was far cheaper and easier to buy world class players, yet the club have still ended up owing him £1.5b.

There is also the ownership dynamic. PIF own a majority of Newcastle and can basically do whatever the **** they want. Our ownership is 50/50 and if Nassef wanted to put in £1b then Wes would have to match it. The problem is he'd have to sell everything he owns to do so, because his (public) is reported at £1b.

Them being a nation also makes a difference as it becomes a lot easier to secure those massive sponsorship deals. I know people like to suggest similar with Nassef, but it's pie in the sky for a listed company to do the same. The shareholders would sue in seconds if a senior employee paid way over the odds on a sponsorship deal to do a board member a favour.

I think you're being a little naïve to what Newcastle could do here, considering Man City have already developed a model for wealthy states to financially dope their clubs outside of the rules.

One dynamic people haven’t considered is the Sauds run the Middle East. Aramco on Man City shirts? Etihad on Newcastle shirts? Not outside the realms of possibility.

Not necessarily, there are likely unilateral funding agreements where nassef could put in a certain amount without Wes also having to as long as they were both in agreement.

Agree with the rest though

Yeh but why even entertain the journalists with a response. Just let them hang around VP all day chatting shit.

Because Villa fans are hanging off every word Sky are saying, which appears inaccurate.

Maybe our communications director cares more about us than Sky.  We know how much Sky love Villa 😂😂😂

To be honest, getting in Coutinho, Digne, Olsen and Chambers with mainly fringe players leaving on loan is a very good window. It would have been excellent if we got a DM as well, but I think Gerrard is happy with the options he's got if the right player can#t be brought in today.

The only blemish is Targett leaving, and not because of his ability, or even where he's going for me, but it just seems an odd move without a specialised replacement. Young can fill in, but ultimately this would leave us with only one dedicated left back, which is odd considering Gerrard wanted more competition there.

Yeh but football fans are nuts. The fact he has tweeted will excite people even more because they’ll say he’s being cryptic!

Yeah, of course. I try to fully caveat, but end up getting so distracted in my thought process that most of my posts about complex issues read like random scribbled down thoughts!

I also think Wes' wealth would be higher than reported, with access to cheap funds if he needed them.

Pretty much guaranteed I'd think. I expect their current deal to be bought out in the summer.

I wish we hadn't signed Coutinho and we managed to sign him today instead 😃

The stupid thing is I have actually felt quite deflated at the end of every NSWE window so far, while almost always having thought it might be our best window ever in prior weeks.

I guess that's why the deadline day culture has worked so well for Sky.

So, since the club came out and said that no more players will be leaving on loan, it looks like Targett, Steer and Trezeguet will all leave on loan.

At least it brings our wage bill down for 6 months.

Saving about 2.5m, that could help towards the Bissouma fee :)

This is likely going to be 100% BS. But, may as well continue speculating as it's the last day of the window.

So this account...

Apparently knew about Ings signing the day before it happened. Do I believe it? Nah, not really. But figured I'd share cos you know, not much else going on.
