Increasing Club Revenue

Possibly a bit of a taboo subject but as a club have we ever done anything related to supporter Legacies, i.e, supporters leaving gifts to the club from their estates when they die?

Charities draw in millions from this form of fundraising

But this one IS different as they appear to be much more than just a gambling firm with some murky stuff in the background.  Would you be happy if we took money off organised crime gangs and displayed their sigils on our shirts?

I must admit sid i have no idea who this company is and what shady dealings your alluding to.

Whats the back story?

It's all back in this thread.  Potential money laundering operation and possible Triad involvement as the ownership is all offshore and difficult to trace.

Oh ok hmm thanks. You would think though the club may have done their homework on this though?

Well yeah, that question has ben asked on this very thread a number of occasions.  Norwich dove into it then pulled out after what they found.

It would certainly help if the club clarified what checks they had undertaken and why their viewpoint is different to Norwich.

Agreed. These are some serious allegations. If norwich pulled out for these very reasons they this is a major issue potentially

Shifting the discussion a little, it’s probably been picked up on pages back but how the hell did Leeds get into the top 20 clubs in the world for revenue - ahead of us when we have more ST holders, a bigger average attendance (not by a lot admittedly) and I doubt Leeds’ ticket prices are much cheaper than ours?

I guess they sold Phillips and Raphinha so is it just simply that is the answer and they’ll fall back out of it next year?

the issue was never the money. gambling companies literally ruin people's lives and prey on the vulnerbale.

i know this has been shown time and time again, but football clubs do not give a shit about their supporters. we would've said yes to the super league too had we been asked, i have absolutely no doubt.

I'm confident that if and when they announce new sponsorship they'll do exactly that.

I dont gamble but we have had many gambling firms before and no one objected. We get a massive deal it sounds like and the fans kicking off.

I think it's just the straw that broke the camel's back for many. We finally have super rich owners and still we can't shake off the stench of these scummy companies.

Alchohol ruins peoples lives much more extensively but I don't see uproar about the official Ale partners etc.

Internet , porn and gaming addictions do too.

I feel people just group latch onto a cause and the more people who join the bandwagon the more " angry " they get.

There are many things I can think of which are worse than gambling ( Again, an activity which people can choose not to to do, or do in moderation, like everything else )

Balti Pies, Hotdogs and certain oils used in the Half times meals probably have cancer causing agents as well 🤷🏾‍♂️

If a segment of people chose to eat XL pizza everyday, gained hundreds of pounds and died of Heart Attacks , would there be a moral argument to reject a 50 million pound per year Pizza Hut Sponsorship, because Pizza ruins lives?

No that’s not what happened. Norwich pulled out because of the backlash from fans related to the semi-naked women that was on their website ant the time.  Absolutely nothing to do with the gambling.

Pretty good. But still pretty bad compared to FX Pro many many years ago (taking into account footballing inflation) and also terrible vs the big 6.  I guess we need to get into Europe for a few years first before sponsorship will be worth substantially more.

exactly and what you’ve mentioned here is way more accessible , a friend of mine got addicted  to fifa ultimate team, up all night playing developed severe rsi and has been off work for 2 years can’t drive and struggles with daily task involved the use of his hand and arms, also spent 13k on fifa points.

Aren't alcohol sponsors banned in football in most of Europe now?

I don't think it's the gambling itself that's the problem, that's a decision for an adult to make for themselves (as well as a subjective opinion on the act itself), but it's more the predatory practices these companies practice that most people object to.

And EA's predatory practices are often criticised by gamers because of things like this. It's actually quite disgusting. Very akin to gambling and what the gambling companies do actually, ironically. Just because there are other issues doesn't mean people shouldn't talk about this one.

West Ham have done sponsorless shirts for adults for a few years https://www.officialwesthamstore.com/kits/home-kit-202223/adults/

Feels a bit sad to me that we will likely have a sponsor like this going into the 150th anniversary of the Club.

Mad that it's cheaper. If a company wants me to wear their logo then they can bloody pay me for it.

I'd actually buy a Villa top if we sold them like that.
