Match Thread: Millwall v Villa

I think we have passed it around quite nicely in midfield for most part of the first half, looks like the players are playing with more freedom than before, running and swapping positions more. Now we need to create some more chances. Grealish has been excellent, making a fool out of the opponents over and over again. Tuanzebe has looked good to.

Lots of mitigating factors today. Awful weather, filthy opposition and a guy in charge who has never been any good at managing. Not going to read into things too much.

Millwall really are a shit house outfit though.

You can see what the plan was, keep attacking and keep the ball away from our goal. Unfortunately they did, and the panic sets in.

Still liked the intensity though, no flat performance here!

There's the basis of a really good squad here - it's just that the areas we're weak in, we're incredibly weak in. We can't fix this until January and we're going to lose a lot of games between now and then, we might win a few too, we're capable of scoring goals - a couple of big strong, fight-y centre halve and a decent left back and we'd storm this league.

I think we have been the better team, don't see the negativity

tbh we have been, it's just so frustrating that we are utterly incapable of defending this season. fell apart a bit after we conceded, but before that we looked decent.

If we were good at defending Bruce would still be here.  Take that as you want!

Its his fault that we are so poor at defending, that he isn't still here and that we aren't top.

Absolutely. When he failed to sign the left back and the centre back at the end of August, he was pretty much sacking himself.

I can still not fathom how we managed to ignore those areas in the summer. Baffling.

But we have one of the best squads in the league say a lot of our fans. Apparently.

Because they wanted to blame Bruce for everything. Maybe now we'll find out our players are not that great either.

They are Bruce's choices though, so it's his fault anyway.
