Looks like Grieve's amendment may just fall short. Lost a couple of rebels already it seems (Ford and Masterson). Edit: And another. Popular Post ml1dch
So this is pretty big (assuming I'm understanding it right). It basically means that ministers can only use the powers in the repeal bill to amend legislation, if Parliament has passed an act signing off on what post-Brexit looks like. So if it looks like being the ****-show that it obviously will, that would make it hard for MPs to agree to, and basically the non-cliff-edge Single Market and Customs Union version until they can be convinced that something better than that is there. So with Alabama last night and now this, it feels like the first good 24 hours for the "non-bellend" side in ages. Popular Post snowychap
He he. Obviously, this may not be Nadine speaking. It could be anyone in her office or anyone who may have overheard her log in details as she's shouted them across parliament. markavfc40
Front pages of the right wing rags should be interesting tomorrow. The Telegraph are already describing the Tory rebels as mutineers.
ml1dch
So, just taking a step back from this obviously good thing. Parliament just had a vote on whether the outcome of the biggest political event in decades should be decided by themselves, or just on a whim by whoever happens to be in the room talking about it at the time, and it's a surprise that it passed. And it very nearly didn't. That's absolutely ******* mental.

Yes it is, but remember that we live in a time when our lead negotiator on matters affecting the country for decades to come is David Davis. This is how low the bar has been set. By rights, we should have descended on Parliament with pitchforks, and set him and his familiars adrift on the Thames in a leaky coracle.
PompeyVillan
In relation to Brexit what it will likely and unfortunately mean is that when it comes to it, parliament will vote through whatever shoddy deal is on table for fear of the backlash from the media and right wing Brexit plums. peterms
Yeah but, no but... Quote John Stevenson (Carlisle) voted both aye and no, which is considered a formal abstention. Make your mind up, son.
