5 Songs You Could Pick to Never Hear Again

Agree with everything you say about Queen, Ruge.

To pick one of my own - Don McLean, American Pie. It was genuinely groundbreaking when it came out, and I thought it was fantastic. But **** me, am I sick of hearing it after forty-odd years.

Sign me up for American Pie as well it just edges out Hotel Claifornia for top spot in the my god this song is annoyingly dull chart

Special mention also to Bohemian Rhapesdy and careless whisper

I feel like my list is too modern, but that brand of happy-go-lucky "everything is going to be alright" posi-pop that seems to be ruling the airwaves recently actually offends me. I mean, I hate the Eagles as much as the next guy, but I think I can listen to "Hotel California" without feeling my blood pressure rise, at least sparingly. But the posi-pop makes me want to strangle puppies. And I love puppies!

Daniel Powter - Bad Day

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are

Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling

James Blunt - Beautiful

Michael Bublé - Haven't Met You Yet

Oh, and I can't effing stand "Tempted" by Squeeze. There's an older song for you. It's like the musical equivalent of lukewarm tapioca pudding.

Oh, and anything by Train! And the Counting Crows. Their entire back catalogue.

This is a very strong selection. I do actually like Bruno Mars but that's a shocking song.

As for I Gotta Feeling, my GOD that's the worst thing that's ever happened

I know it isn't ideal that this memorial isn't open on Monday's but to suggest that these opening times is the worst thing that's ever happened is exaggerating.

Counting Crows

Matchbox 20

Dave Matthews Band

DIE

If you'd included Train in your list, I'd probably have proposed to you on the spot.

Would CREED get me dinner and a movie?

Trying to keep it to things I actually would have listened to at one point.

American Idiot (and anything else Green Day released from that album or any subsequent album)

Anything by Muse after Absolution (apart from Knights of Cydonia)

Anything by Death Cab for Cutie (apparently at some point in my mid 20s I turned 15 again briefly. Jesus Christ)

Sex on Fire (and I felt this way about a week after I first heard it)

Plush by the Stone Temple Pilots

Great picks. Personally I'd drop the caveat on the Muse choice though.
