bose
The back four will probably be unchanged but other than that it's very difficult to see what team Sherwood will put out. We don't even know what formation he will set up. Cleverley deserves to keep his place after his 2nd half performance against Leicester. Although Bacuna scored, I still think he makes too many mistakes but I wouldn't be against him starting though. If he goes with a plain 4-4-2 this is how I would set us up. I doubt he'll have a plain 4-4-2 though because of how defensively vulnerable it is. Guzan Hutton Vlaar Clark Cissokho Gil Delph Cleverley Sinclair Weimann Benteke I think it's more likely he'll go 4-5-1 (or 4-3-3, depends how you look at it). Guzan Hutton Vlaar Clark Cissokho Sanchez Delph Gil Cleverley Sinclair Benteke Westwood could also come in for Sanchez in this formation.
ermie123
With his man of the match performance, I'd keep Shay in goal. Guzan hasn't faced competition in three years and I think it's starting to show. I'd also leave Westwood out of the squad to make sure he doesn't take any corners. Given Hutton Vlaar Clark Cissokho Bacuna Delph Cleverley Gil Weimann Benteke Westwood and corners lol lol falls out of chair!!!!
ermie123
He wont speak with the Marshalls because if he had not gone in the dressing at half time to give the team talk we would have lost! Those Marshalls have got all the charisma of a dead sheep!!

VillaChris
I honestly cant believe Stoke are as high up in the table as they are. Their team is just plain average. When everyone's fit they have a really good spine, Begovic, Shawcross, N'Zonzi, Bojan, Crouch. Walters has been in the form of his life recently aswell. They are inconsistant though, won at City and Spurs this season but lost to us, Burnley and Leicester all at home. Think it does show you don't have to be that amazing to be 10th in the league after 25 games although Lambert made that near impossible.
VillaChris
I'm not actually sure Gil will start....he should be but then Sherwood probably hasn't seen him "live" yet so could well stick with what he saw yesterday e.g. we could see Sinclair and Bacuna either side of Benteke perhaps and then have Gil, Gabby and Weimann all as potential impact subs.
BleedClaretAndBlue
No way Gil wont start once TS has a week with the players. Head and shoulders above the rest of our 'creative' bunch
VillaChris
Depends how much he trains this week with the injury, same for Gabby although he should start a million times ahead of him.
PaulC
I think Sherwood will know what Gil can do and will see for himself in training. if he's fit he's one of the certainties for selection.

Stevo985 Posted February 17, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted February 17, 2015 "Equipo Ganador No Se Cambia" Sherwood will have a hard time picking a team but I reckon. Given Clark Okore Vlaar Cissokho Gil Sanchez Bacuna Sinclair Weimann Benteke Should be the lineup. We'll be losing then if that's the line upStop putting Given in goal people. Won't happen. And if it does, it'll be Sherwood's first mistake as Villa boss.
Stevo985 Posted February 17, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted February 17, 2015 I think we'll play 4-4-2 That's Sherwood's thing. Back to basics. It will be interesting to see the lineup though. I'm expecting something different.

Grasshopper
I'd like to see Guzan Hutton Okore Clark Cissokho Westwood Sanchez Bacuna Sinclair Gil Benteke Think "The Sherminator" will go Guzan Hutton Vlaar Clark Cissokho *Sanchez/Cleverley Delph Bacuna Sinclair Gil Benteke *Sanchez/Cleverley Depending if Sanchez impresses in training and TS thinks we need a bit more of a "Bulkier" holding player. chrisp65
not critical that we win (not quite) critical that there is a massive and obvious improvement probably critical that we score a league goal or two

Unfortunately, that's my worry too. Sherwood said he's giving everyone a clean slate and will judge them on what he sees in training. Gil wont have enough time, due to his injury, to demonstrate to Sherwood his qualities. Id honestly hope someone at the club shows him videos of his performances for us so far - that'd be enough
