SNP up from 6 to 58.

Bye bye United Kingdom.

Incredible if true. For historic parallels, even the Irish Home Rule party & Sinn Fein never achieved such local dominance.

Yep, instantly reminded me of the Republic in 1919.

IF true Labour have underachieved by about 30 seats here purely due to their leader I think.

Don't think Scots have forgotten how absent Milliband was from the referendum campaign last year and the Yes vote only got over the line as he had to send an S.O.S to Uncle Gordon to help out.

How are the exit polls counted?

They take a sample of people leaving 140 polling stations. They're increasingly on the money.

So no point waiting up then?

I wouldn't, unless you suffer from insomnia or are a masochist. They have been completely wrong previously, but even if they're wrong it's going to be a hung parliament, so there's not going to be a definitive answer anyway.

How are the exit polls counted?

There are only about 10% of the seats that may change hands. I think they would round that up to around 100 possibly marginal seats. The pollsters ask people who leave those polling stations who they voted for. Total surveyed was 20,000 so probably around 200 replies from around 100 seats.

EDIT - I took a guess at 100 seats, turns out it's 141 seats. I also assume they chose marginal seats.
