ArteSuave
Papa Baboon Diop. Papio Baboon Diop, surely. Is there any teams left? To manage? Sure Check the second post of the thread, although make sure you pick a team that's not been eliminated I think it's only the humans left.
Popular Post Stevo985 Posted August 15, 2014 Author VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted August 15, 2014 Match 8 - Albatrosses vs Pandas The first round of knockout matches concluded in today’s late kickoff as the Albatrosses took on the Pandas. The game promised to be quite the spectacle as the only competitors capable of flight were introduced to the competition. The roof was opened on the stadium, for obvious reasons, and the crowd were vocal in their anticipation of the spectacle to follow. Unfortunately, it proved to be more hype than reality. The albatrosses immediately kicked off and took the ball to the sky between their feet. This, however, resulted in the referee blowing and giving a foul to the pandas for obstruction. The albatrosses, in scenes reminiscent of Brazil vs Zaire from the Human world cup, tried the same trick several times until the referee started handing out bookings for persistent offences. Lesson finally learned, the albatrosses kept their flight to much lower levels and the game developed into something resembling a football match. The pandas pressed forward and had a few tame attempts, but were always vulnerable to the counter attack, the albatrosses’ flight giving them immense speed on the break. Indeed it was the albatrosses who took the lead using this very tactic. The Pandas went close from a corner, but some intricate passing and flying into space allowed the albatrosses to move the ball quickly, Phillipe Albertross finishing a low cross at the back post to cap off a wonderful move. That was about as good as it got for the albatrosses though. As the game moved into the second half the pandas dropped deeper and became more patient with their play, realising keeping the ball close meant the albatrosses had to land to make challenges, severely hampering their speed and agility. On the hour mark, Peter Panda moved forward with the ball and was scythed down with a swooping tackle from Albertross Riera. The resulting free kick called for a shot on goal and Pandavid Ginola hit the ball hard goalwards. The albatross keeper flew towards the ball, but having no anchorage on the ground was simply forced into the net by the power of the shot. The Pandas now had the wind in their sails and used their momentum to great effect. An upset seemed to be on the cards and the writing was on the wall when a Panda corner was forced home after goalmouth scramble by Edgra Pandavids. Panda-monium erupted in the stands as the referee blew the full time whistle to signal the Pandas’ advance into the next round. A weekend break faces all the teams now with the quarter finals resuming on Monday. Result - Albatrosses 1 - 2 Pandas

Stevo985 Posted August 15, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) Brackets updated in OP. I'll do them properly when I get a chance but didn't have time today. Stefan added as human manager. I'm off on a lads' weekend so no games until Monday (I don't think writing imaginary match reports for an imaginary football tournament between different animals would go down very well as an excuse to not go out) Edited August 15, 2014 by Stevo985

useless
This could be what the endangered Panda species needs, something to feel alive for. It can't do their confidence any harm beating a team like the Albatrosses. And well done to the Humans too, I feared for them today against powerful opposition but I guess their experience counts for a lot when all is said and done. I'll miss this over the weekend but at least we've got the start of the Premier League to think about.

Popular Post StefanAVFC
ANNOUNCEMENTANNOUNCEMENTANNOUNCEMENTANNOUNCEMENTANNOUNCEMENTANNOUNCEMENTANNOUNCEMENTANNOUNCEMENT BUST UP AT TEAM HOTEL RESULTS IN 23 DEAD GERMANS. NEW HUMAN TEAM HAS BEEN FLOWN OUT TO REPRESENT THEM. THE TEAM: GK Gareth 'The Panther Eater' RDR A clear choice for the human XI. He provides much needed expertise in many wild animals and knows how to exploit each weakness. RB Boris 'Bunga Bunga' Johnson He did a wonderful service for humanity when he launched himself at the German No.6 in the charity match and has be installed to give team-talks when Stefan is at work. (which is never) CB Nathan 'My other job is a footballer' Baker The next step for the team was a real top class CB to lead the line. Sadly, all of those were taken so we ended up with Nathan Baker. CB Ban Ki Moon © Leader of men. Clear choice for captain and provides experience that any back 4 needs. LB Jordi 'Totally not paid off in the slighest' Alba "Ban Ki totally didn't agree to wipe out Spain's debt. What? Who said that? Nope. We're a squeaky clean operation here." CM That bloke off the GoCompare adverts. He gets in your head. He gets in your mind. An absolute rock in the midfield with his ability to create seemingly impossible rhymes at will. Star player. CM Jack 'Top Banter' Woodward (vc) Captain Jack would have been first choice for captain if not for Ban Ki. He also runs the Human XI video channel 'HXITV' which he commentates for as he plays. TOP GOAL! CM RugeleyVilla's Missus The Human XI 'golden girl'. The most creative player in the team whose assist total is off the scale. She vacuums up possession comfortably for the team and is a great asset. RW Rachel 'Urrrrrhhrrrrrhhr' Riley That arse. LW Stewart 'DJ' Downing His loyalty to the team never questioned. That time he was pictured holding a Gorillas scarf in a pub with Joe Young was proven to be a photoshop because Gorillas don't go to pubs, don't be so stupid. CF Emile Heskey THIS IS THE MAN. A GOD AMONGST FOOTBALLERS AND MEN ALIKE. HE LEADS THE LINE WITH FIRE IN HIS HEART AND BURGERS IN HIS BELLY. Manager: StefanAVFC THE FORMATION Manager statement (to goal.com) "I am incredibly excited and honoured to be managing this illustrious side. I have picked a really fine XI who I think can really do a job against any opposition. We have a small squad but they're a great bunch of lads. We had a tough warm-up game losing 7-2 to Bradford but I told the lads we needed to 'go again' and that seemed to stir them up."
